2 years is fine for the gear oil. Here's the maintenance schedule:

Been riding on 10w40 now for a few days. Not a real significant difference in riding. I was figuring it'd be a little more sluggish, but it's not. It's been riding much smoother and quieter on the highway. And mpg's haven't dropped
