Ride to the Big River In Southern Missouri

Post by SECoda »

A few pictures on the way. About 115 miles round trip.

There is a new winery under construction nearby my wife is excited about (Villa Antonia Winery) in Antonia, MO like we need another one in Missouri. The vineyards are on the other side of the lakes. It had just opened and is packed every time I go past.

The scenic overlook is in Washington State Park 10 miles south of Desoto (they had the Big river access road closed). It is a nice drop over the cliff with a big warning sign but no fence. o_O

Great pics and jealous of you. We still have another 6 weeks or so of true winter where you simply see no bikes of any kind out. Temperatures are close to -20 on average and too much ice to even think of riding.

Well you must have found one of the few warm days, because we haven't had very many of those lately. We are going to try to get the bikes out for a short ride today. Tomorrow is going to be yet another rainy day in Georgia.

Today - Sunday is actually warmer than they predicted. Right now it says 71.6. I visited the Meramec river much closer to my home today. A fishermen was out in his bass boat and folks were walking dogs in shorts and a T-shirt. It was a surreal sight this time of the year.

A local mining company opened the river near Fenton, MO into 4-5 lakes with the largest being nearly a mile across. Eventually it snakes to the Mississippi river about ten miles further.

It is for my 5' 11" height once the seat softens up a bit. (or my rear) I can ride for hours on it.
