Comfort shocks for 2014 PCX?

Post by pcxx »

Purchased a new 2014 PCX a few months ago. Just want to change out the shocks for a more comfortable ride. Any recommendations? I'm in Thailand and YSS shocks are readily available. I'm 170 lbs. And my girlfriend is 110 and rides on the back sometimes. Thanks

Are there any other after market rear shocks for the PCX , othen than YSS in the market ?
I don't think so.
So, if you go for YSS, there is only ONE code for PCX150 MY2014, no matter what your weight is, (older PCX models could choose between L/XL/XXL ).
Ask for YSS TB222-315P-06 .
(Any other YSS codes are for older PCX models 2009 up to 2013).

I have a Forza with 19,000 km. have written throughout thailand and malaysia. great bike on roads with no bumps.

Have installed YSS adjustable shocks and ride still sucks. next week i go to the YSS factory in Bangkok to see what they can do. Perhaps their best rear shocks and front fork valves adjusted correctly may help things.

Love this bike and have had many bikes over the years. the twist and go, storage, and protected riding position are great. adequate power for going and ABS breaks for stopping.

IF, i could get the suspension better i would be a happy camper.

Appreciate hearing more experiences with trying to improve rear suspension.

Let us know on your Forza. Luckily most of my roads are relatively smooth but I would still like to improve the ride a bit.

It's not too expensive to ship from Thailand.

I have followed the "need to find the aftermarket shocks that will give a comfy ride on my scooter" thread for two years....on various forums, and sites like utube.
Wish I could locate the youtube video I saw months ago.... the fellow built scooters for a hobby in Europe.(Spain maybe)
Regarding aftermarket shocks....he said you can buy shocks to improve the race qualities of a scooter..and you can buy prettier shocks for your scooter....but you will be wasting your money trying to find shocks that will make your scooter ride like something other than what it is ,"a scooter, with an engine attached to the rear wheel"
The suspension only seems crudely designed and built - when actually it is just the limitations of a scooter, even a very good scooter, just the limitations of a scooter.
He had some really pretty aftermarket shocks on his scooter....but said it still rides roughly, because it is a scooter.
I'm patiently waiting for someone to report back that their aftermarket shocks cured their harsh riding scooter. A few sent pix of their pretty (and expensive) aftermarket shocks installed on their scoot.....then they go silent. Hmmmm.
In fairness...I guess I'd also be reluctant to admit I'd just spent a bundle on a colorful but pretty useless "modification".

PS to the above.
My 2 cents.......after I improved my seat 300%....the "ride" was so much better I quit thinking about shocks.

I can confidently say that the current YSS shocks are a big improvement over the stock Honda shocks.

And... I do believe that the inherent design of the scooter (especially limited travel) makes substantial improvement questionable.

Does anyone know if the really big, expensive scooters have a better ride and suspension?

Drifter, don't really understand question but I have ridden on our and YSS shocks after adjusting both through the range, rode 1 up/2 up, with and without travel gear and YSS are better.

Also, techs at YSS service center were very helpful. They did some additional adjustments and I find the ride better.

They also let me test ride employees pix and forza with slightly different YSS setups for comparison (I also have a pcx).

Techs spoke highly of yamaha tmax suspension. Have not researched this yet but told they have a similar 'pull' vs 'push' type shocks similar to some Harleys.

I did not notice you have a 300.....so the shock question wont apply to 125/150 riders.

From the YSS website. I don't see why all the rear shocks would not fit on all model years....

Glen, which size did you purchase from bikerzbits? They only have XL and xxl available which seem like they are only for older versions. I have a white 2015 like yours
