Givi Top case install

Post by kcpcx »

In case anyone is interested:

Pics of the Givi universal mount on the OEM Honda rack. Also of E26 top case. My Large size HJC Symax modular fits inside.

Notes:

The Honda tail plastic has marks on the underside on where to drill the holes. This has been covered in other posts. But I will add one thing. I have found that it's important to make your holes larger than the rack posts. You do not want the rack contacting the plastic at any point on the edge of the hole. If it does, you will likely end up with a stress crack in the plastic. I was extremely careful drilling the holes and mounting the rack and tail section back on. Nevertheless, I ended up with a crack because the rack post contacted the hole edge. I included a pic of this so you can avoid it.

Once you have drilled the rough hole, use a small sanding drum on a Dremel tool to carefully enlarge the hole and finish the drilled edge off. You may have to test fit the tail plastic to the rack a couple times until you get it exactly how you want it.

The GIVI universal mounting plate mounts easily to the OEM Honda rack. I could have used the included hardware alone, but I chose to also drill two small holes in the rack itself to mount the plate to the rack. I think it's more secure that way, and honestly you may remove the GIVI case itself, but you'll probably leave the base plate on all the time.

The E26 is a phenomenal deal for the money on Amazon, considering it comes with everything you need. No need to buy another base. Small enough that it doesn't overpower the small scoot's looks, but big enough to hold your helmet.

The E26 I ordered from Amazon came with this included at no extra charge. It is the base in my pics.

I  remember you posting that before now that you mention it. $70 seems hard to beat if it will hold my GMax Modular54S. I will order it then. I guess the brake light is a bit cheesy but for the price hard to beat.

The brake light is pretty poor. But I guess the wiring is there already, so you could easily put a better LED in there if you wanted to.

I can take better pics of the helmet in there if you want, before you order it. Mine is a size L HJC Symax. Not much spare room.

Yeah, it wasn't my favorite case out there, but for the overall value, hard to beat.

I think you can get a 30L for not much more, if you wanted something a bit larger and the light wasn't a must.

Does that include the mount? It says Universal Fitting Kit? I see one for $100 with the U Mount.

It seems to. I may have given you a link to a different seller than where I bought my E26. Looks like Tour and Ride also sells a 30L for $90. I got my case from them lickety split when ordered through Amazon, and I'd recommend them where I can't speak to the other seller.

Here is their contact info if you wanted to confirm it before you pulled the trigger. They have a chat feature bottom right.

I actually like the aesthetics of that 30L a tad better than mine.

Thanks. There are so many cases. What is the difference between your link, the E30 Tour and the E300 Tour? $100 and $108 on Amazon. All have U Mounts and lights.

Not totally sure, but I think the E30 is the older designation, and Givi has revamped their lineup, and the case that occupies the 30 liter space is now called an E300. I think the E26 I have has been replaced by the E260, etc. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.
