7 months of PCX'ing

Post by Lingwood »

Hi all

Just finished doing the valve clearances, oil change and check the belt. With 4080 miles on the clock the belt is still 22mm wide, the valves were tight by 0.05mm each and the oil was a bit black with two tiny bits of ally swarf in the filter. Refilled with 5w30 synthetic oil.

Started commuting every day since October last year, had a really lucky first winter on the PCX, no snow or ice, and I reckon it rained about a dozen times. Not to say it hasn't rained, just that I've missed it on the commute of 8 miles either way.

Temp dropped to about -2 centigrade a couple of mornings, some quite bad winds for the few weeks after Xmas but now I'm looking forward to a glorious summer of scootering, which around here is usually wetter than winter :(

So I didn't need to buy a bigger screen, or motorcycle boots, the PCX offers enough protection as it was. I don't really go that fast to make wind chill a problem ;)

Very happy with the PCX, I only use it for commuting and I'm really jealous of you chaps and your epic tours!

Woah! that was a long post, better sign off, Bye!

Yeah, did that around 800 miles ago, there wasn't a lot in there, very strange.

Translation for those of us not British.

Ally = Aluminum, or Aluminium

Swarf = fine chips or filings of stone, metal, or other material produced by a machining operation.
Previous - 1986 Honda Elite 250, 2007 Ninja 500r, 2013 Honda PCX-150
Current - 2015 Honda CBR650F :o
