Looking for a Scooter Cover...

Looking for a Scooter Cover to put over my PCX when we trailer it from Pa to Fla this winter. Would like something to cover the whole bike and fit tightly and snugly 'cause we are taking the open trailer. I've been looking online but it's hard to tell from a picture. There's one mfg that kind of has my interest, gezagear, but they only have tight fitting covers for motorcycles. Anyone have any suggestions on what they use or have used when transporting their bikes on an open trailer.

After looking at the gezagear site, I'm still not sure if any cover would ever be tight
enough to not cause some kind of damage from wear/abrasion/flapping on a trip that far.
I've always just resigned to washing my scoot whenever we arrive.
We usually tow them behind a motorhome, either on a hitch haul, or a little 12 foot trailer.

But, that's just my opinion.

Although, they do look fairly snug.

I mainly want the cover for rain, dirt, and vibration. when we went to Fla last year and we trailer-ed my Buddy 150, the mirror vibrated right off! The Honda seems to be built better so I don't think that will happen, but still wanted to cover it.

Like Chuck mentioned, you'll more than likely end up with chafing, even if the cover were lined in fleece.

I towed my Center Console to Florida several years back. It did a number on my windshield, eventhough that portion of the cover was lined in felt.

I have towed motorcycles for years; never put a cover on them because of the chaffing concern. Especially so with an open trailer. I have used a vinyl cover on bicycles behind an RV... yep, it chaffed the paint, and the cover did not appear to be flapping. That is the reason I went with an enclosed trailer this time around: not only are the bikes protected while we're going down the road, I can carry tools and other stuff that is out of sight. It makes for a portable "garage" when we're traveling, as well.

I have not seen a PCX-specific cover, but check out small motorcycle covers on-line. When we had touring bikes, we "demi-covers" that we bought at a rally that covered only the top part of the bikes. Mostly, it kept dew and leaves off the seat, windshield, trunk and tank, when the bikes were parked outside overnight.

The only thing I that MAY work and not rub off all the edges is shrink wrapping like they do boats for storage.
But thats a one time use thing only that uses a heat gun to tighten it all up:

so, stopped over at the dealer where I got my PCX from today. I bought a scooter cover and was able to try it on my PCX beforehand. will cover the PCX while sitting and not while transporting. thanks for everyone's help. ps... they gave me 10% off too! pss. they had a new Forza there... $ 6000 ... wow! glad I'm happy with my little 150 Honda...

Kim, very glad to hear you will not be covering while open hauling. I was going to say the same;"Not to." Do not want to mar your lovely, me either (neither?) Well!! Good on Honda they took 10% off! Tell us more...Is it a Honda brand? How's the fit? Is it waterproof or water resistant? Hmm...just noticed, why is waterproof one word and water resistant two?

OK! since you asked... the Honda tech looked up what I needed in his computer. the cover he found had the word HONDA on it and because of that, it was $ 107 plus tax. I told him I was hoping not to spend that much. so, he turned around to where the cover display was and lo and behold he had an XL scooter cover for sale for $ 53. I said this is more like it. we took it outside and tried it on my PCX and it fit nicely over the large GIVI windshield and back box. the brand is Guardian and it is a scooter cover, polyester and water repellent with aluminized panels to protect against hot pipes. the front has a nonscratch area for around the windshield. Lifetime warranty. 10% disc + Pa tax == $ 48 out the door. I'm glad I did not buy online as I would have chosen the large and it would not have been large enough with the oversized windscreen. plus, the covers were about that much online. not sure how the cover will work in a heavy duty rainstorm but for the morning dew and dirt from the trees camping, I think it will fare well.

bit late to this and sounds like you've already bought one.. But I got an Oxford Rainex cover (medium I think) which covers my pcx125 pretty well. 18 months in though it's getting a few rips in the seams but it's been on and off twice a day and stuffed under the seat while I ride to and from work so probably not treated it too carefully! got it from Amazon.. http://amzn.to/18KTBtE
