How-To: Show Fuelly banner in your signature

Post by maddiedog »

Sure, I made this as simple as possible:

1. Register for Fuelly. Track some tanks of gas, no one wants to see an empty Fuelly log. ;) Log into your account, and go to the page for your PCX. On the right side of the page, you can click the link under "Share my MPG." Click it.

2. Copy the BBCode to the clipboard. To do this easily, click into the box with the BBCode. Press CTRL+A to select all, then CTRL+X to cut the text onto your clipboard. The text should disappear.

3. Log into the forum. Click the User Profile link at the top left.

4. Click Board Preferences on the left.

5. Click Edit Signature.

6. Place your mouse in the area to enter your signature, and press CTRL+V to paste the text in place. To prevent scamming, phishing, or spamming, embedded links are disabled in signatures.

Delete all the text before the [IMG ].
Delete all the text after the [/IMG ].

It should look something like this, but the numbers will be different to display your fuelly signature:

Scroll down and press Submit. Your signature has been set, and should automatically show up in all posts you've made.

If any of this is unclear or you need further help, please reply here. :)

Thanks!

I got hung up on step 6. Didn't know what superfluous code to discard.

Normally, you wouldn't have to remove that junk, but I've disabled links in signatures because a lot of spam bots register, make a couple of "relevant" posts with no junk in them, but have a link to some spam site in the signature. Since that isn't allowed, it interferes with probably 25% of spam bots, blocking a lot of junk before it hits here. :)

There is no 'share my mpg' link on my page. Could this be because im using an Ipad?

It's possible -- I can still see it from my laptop.

I just set up my Fuelly Banner on my site (yay!). I would like to put a picture of my PCX in where the generic picture is. I could play around with it but would just be easier if someone told me where to paste in my picture in. thanks! ScooterKim

That would be a great feature. But I can't see the link on either my Mac (Firefox browser) or my Android Tablet.
Which browser are you using?

Thanks.

Did the message board change how it handles Fuelly banners, or has the code Fuelly supplies gotten funky? I tried to fix mine to no avail.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Oh hi there. Whoops I thought I had Fuelly banners already lol. I guess because I don't have a PCX and own a gas guzzling CB300F.
