roller weights

Post by woutr73 »

Hello everyone, first timer so nice to meet you all! Owner of a 2015 150cc since a good week now and really liking it so far. I have a question about roller weights.. My second hand pcx came with a non stock variator and two different roller weights, 12.5 and 10.5 gramms. The 12.5's make the pcx pretty fast from the start and the 10.5's, which are installed now, even seem a bit faster, however.. I wouldn't know how a stock pcx drives..
My question is, am I doing my pcx any harm with these roller weights? I think I read somewhere that the pcx in europe originally comes with 19 gramm weights? A quick acceleration is fun of course but I am wondering if I'm pushing limits here. Any helpful insight is highly appreciated!

ps.. I mostly drive in and around the city so acceleration is more important than top speed to me

You’re fine… All you’ve done is move the power band around to give you a little bit more acceleration. For a PCX 150 most people here have found the sweet spot to be the 13 g roller…

Does anyone know the "sweetspot" for the new 4 valve engine? the 157cc KF47 lowest roller weight without loosing top speed? Also stock size? dimensions and gram weight?

While I can't answer this directly, I can tell you that I went with 18g Dr. Pulley sliders on mine. Noticeably quicker off the line and 2 mph gain on top end. Was looking to maintain 70 without bouncing on the rev limiter (71 top spd). Stock variator and Puig windscreen.

I have a pcx150 2016 stock standard. What rollers without changing variator would you suggest and would I get a little bit more top speed.

Try 12-14g, either standard or Dr. Pulley brand. Be sure to also replace the slides in the variator also.

You are not going to get much more top speed by just changing the weights. Changing weights only changes the shifting speed of the variator. You need a different Variator to get taller gearing for higher top end.

You might get an MPH or 2 by switching to Sliders but if you are already opening up the CVT, change the Variator.

Stock is 19grams.. You can use 18grams its good if lower the pulley dont have enouf weight for press up the belt.
