Won't start

Post by Kinglit »

Hey!
I have a 2011 pcx150 in Kentucky. Its been working great, finished a 35mi ride, stopped for a coffee on the way home and it wouldn't start back up. The key difference between this issue and any I have seen on the forum is that the orange engine light does not turn on.
I get on, kick the stand up, insert and turn key. Speedometer lights up and cycles and the odometer/fuel meter backlight turns on. Normally the engine light below the odometer lights up but it does not now. Kill switch is off. Squeezing either and or both breaks and hit the start button and absolutely nothing happens. Put battery on trickle charger overnight, still nothing. All fuses above the battery are good.

Horn and blinkers both work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like battery failure, take the battery to an auto parts store and have it load tested. You can charge a battery and get a reading that’s satisfactory, but as soon as you put a load on it, it collapses. It could be as simple as buying a new battery.

Apart from what is stated above (battery) - check as what is stated in the SM for when the MIL light does not come on:

That is basically the only thing I could find in the SM about the MIL not coming on. Hope it helps.

Oh and this but it refers to the image above:

I currently have the same issue ..........mil light won't come on. Think we may need an ECM unit. Debating whether to spend $500+ as PCX has 83k.

@mymitzi: perhaps you can find a second hand ECM unit on ebay - i see these listed for around 60 to 75 € over here (Belgium). Might be worth the try, if my pcx would have this and 83k I would not risk 500$ for a slim chance it might resolve the issue.

Thanks Ganglylamb ........eBay might be an option. Checked with bikezbits....about $325.00. Still on the fence.
