Opening seat on Forza 300 with a suspected dead battery

Post by Deksx »

Hi all,

I have posted this in the general section. Hopefully it's in the right place

About 5 weeks ago I came off the Forza when I was going round a bend. The bike just slipped under me and slid , hit the curb and tippled over causing cosmetic damage to both sides. Some people stopped to hep me and I started up the bike and road it home.

Now that my ankle is healing (ligaments) I decided to ride it to work this morning for the first time after parking it up after the slide. When I tried using the electronic remote the bike didn't respond at all. I tried the spare remote and again nothing. No sign of life at all on the bike and I wonder if for some reason the battery has died in connection with the accident. I've no idea why this could be.

My question is due to the bike being locked and the seat also locked. How do I get to the battery to try to charge it? I presume the battery is located under the seat somewhere? With the remote fob there is a plastic hex thing which I think is used somehow if the battery in the fob has died. Can anyone give me basic instructions how I use this or how I can gain access to under the seat. If I can pop the seat i can access the bike manual to check how to access the battery

Thankyou for reading and hopefully helping me out

Kind regards

Deks

have a look here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scrUTdApUhg

He shows the procedure for the SH.
The only difference is on the Forza you'll find the plug for the blue emergency connector under the seat.

Sounds like another good reason use a trickle charger with a external plugin adaptor. If the battery goes, simply plug in the charger to have enough current to activate the switch.

Hopefully you gave it a good check over before riding again after your crash apart from noticing it wouldn’t start after a few weeks.

The Forza has some kind of tip over sensor. Does it need to be reset? Not sure what it is.

Great advice!

Whatever you ride with smart keys or newer technology that is power dependent . . .. :D

Thanks for the helpful replies. I clipped off the front plastic piece. The one directly under the ignition dial and used the black hex thing to pop the boot.

The battery was totally flat, I've had it on charge for 24 hours and its starting fine now. I ordered one of the battery trickler things today for £13 off Amazon so you can just plug it to the terminal which I'll just have under seat.

The bad thing now is the steering isn't straight anymore it's about 5 degrees out when going in a straight line. I'm hoping it's not bent forks and it's like a pushbike where you can adjust it back straight. I'm going to book it into the garage tomorrow for it looking at

Fingers crossed

If it is only slightly out you could try to tap the front tyre against a high kerb at a slight angle

Mine was very slightly out from new, so that's what I did to cure it

Hi Forzy,

I'd say it is about 5 to 10 degrees out. I'm rubbish when it comes to mechanics but I found a diagram on a web search it looked like there may be a possibility the main column is clamped and it could be that can be adjusted.

I'll book it in at the dealer and if its going to cost too much I may as well claim off my insurance and get all the cosmetic damage sorted as well. I have 10 years no claims insurance and I really don't want to lose that but maybe I should get the bike back to perfect for the sake of around £800 for excess and lost no claims

Thinking about it, it's probably not 10 degrees but it is very noticeable so I'll guess it at 5 degrees

Aye Forzy, it's booked on Tuesday. I'll post here the details.

On a side note I rode it to work and back today which is approx 50 miles. I didn't notice anything bad. It tops out at 90 mph. I'm 6ft tall and will look at getting the 4" taller screen as at this speed it really smashes into your helmet and the noise is deafening

It saddens me to say that as from today I am no longer a proud Forza 300 2019 owner. I ended up claiming through the insurance and they have written my baby off. A really sad day, I even cried this morning

Don't be sad, you now get to go and buy an Xmax 300 instead.
Much better. 8)
