Forza 125 Engine Break In

Post by Dupont »

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a new Honda Forza 125 and am delighted with it. I am a little unsure about engine break in though as I have read not to run it at the same revs/speed for too long while new. I have put 70 easy miles on it through local riding, but now need to start commuting which is a 20 mile dual carriageway run at 45/50 mph each way daily. I know the bike will easily do that, but am I damaging the engine doing it with less than 300 miles on clock?

Any advice is most appreciated. All the Honda salesman said was don't thrash the nuts off it until the first service. A bit vague really as is the handbook.

Actually, the salesman is correct, don’t overthink this, these bikes are sold all over the world and a lot of people don’t do any breakin at all and they’re perfectly fine. Just don’t hold it at the same speed for longer than about 10 minutes, vary it in every now and then ,up-and-down the RPM band.

Thanks that is my main problem. The commute is through construction works and the traffic flow is at 45 mph for approx 30 mins.

I still don’t see the problem… Hold it at 40 miles an hour for 10 minutes then go to 45 then go to 38 then go to 42… Etc. etc. etc.
