I installed mine at the exit hose of the radiator, due to clearance issues. Meaning that I will see temperature after they are cooled by the radiator, not ideal. I am seeing 160 Farranheight temps at 65 mph and 70-100 in city riding.

Generic information: Your PCX150 has similar characteristics to any water cooled car.

Engines need to get to 195 - 205 degrees F. as soon as possible to be efficient and have good gas mileage. That is why automobiles have thermostats. As I understand things, scooters and motorcycles have thermostats like cars but they are troublesome, (stick open, stick closed) hence many are removed to avoid overheating that could result in engine destruction.

SO, many run without thermostats period. This is fine in tropical climates like Florida, but what about driving them in longitude farther north than Georgia ? When you allow or force them to run at ambient cold temperatures, they will run, yes, but will lose up to 15 miles per gallon BECAUSE they are operating inefficiently.

I solved the problem on my Ninja 500 and the PCX150 by custom cutting a metal plate that covers 1/2 of the radiator. In the winter I drive 5 miles. I drive 10 miles one way, etc, etc, etc. The engine now runs 30 - 70 degrees warmer. It drives better overall in the winter and I get 93 miles per gallon instead of just 70.

I like that Gil, and I think it's fine to place it there. Do you have a link to the probe & gauge you used ?

I have the Koso slim water temp meter with an 16mm water house adapter for the sensor. Like this one from webike, https://japan.webike.net/products/21346158.html

On a side note, there are counterfit Koso gauges on aliexpress and other sites. While considerably cheaper, they aren't of the same quality. So decide if you wan't to cheap out or spend a bit more on original Koso gauges.

Oh, the 14mm hose adapter might fit better. The 16mm one was a bit tight with the hose.

Have you tried tapping into the wires that go to the original coolant temp sensor? I bet if you tried you would find it worked well with your Koso gauge without having to fit an additional sensor. Most of these sensors work on 5 volts so would give the same reading on your Koso gauge that the engine was getting for the ECU.
I fitted an oil temp gauge to a Suzuki VanVan once using the oil pressure port for the sensor. The trouble I encountered was the air across the body of the sensor cooled the reading given to the gauge. I fixed it with a piece of cycle tyre inner tube over the sensor to insulate it from the air cooling and it worked a treat after that.
