Have you been guddling in the transmission?
Might have damaged the speed sensor or its wire.

Does the speedo sweep round at start-up?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Not done anything at all to it, weather obviously has been bad recently maybe that has a bearing on it.

The speedo does sweep around on startup yeah, this morning it worked for literally 30secs down the road then nothing!

Do you mean the actual sensor? if so quite possibly.

Fixable? Does the rear wheel have to come off to get at the sensor??

I'd be checking and cleaning all connectors between the sensor and the speedo first.

Ok, will have a look at that. I did manage to look at the actual sensor and it was a bit wet slightly gritty/dirty.

I've cleaned it up but not run it yet, will report back when i do.

Whilst on topic, how does the wire on the sensor disconnect as i couldn't do it without fearing id break it!

Bump.

Ok I've took it apart and checked the wiring especially behind the air box as read on here someone had an issue there but it looked ok all be it a bit twisted but looked fine.

I am checking the connectors at the dash end now but not sure where the speedo sensor one is, does anyone know which it is?

Earlier LED models circa 2013/14 apparently have a single 16-way multi-connector to the dash assembly so either that info is wrong or things have changed - you may find a circuit for newer models searching google.

If you can get them off easily then may be worth doing it, or just waggle them a bit :)

Done that bit! :D

Mines a 2016 led uk model and I've been looking at the wiring diagram here https://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=771 but it's giving me a headache!

I may buy a sensor and hope for the best if all this wiggling and cleaning dont work.

I've cleaned all the connectors with contact cleaner and wiggled all the wires, swapped the fuses out as well just in case but nothing

EML light has gone out tho! so that's something, will order a sensor but still not confident it will fix it as heard they rarely if ever go wrong.

That may be an older wiring diagram that you are looking at. You have the LED version.

Try this one.

Mel - still shows one multi-way connector and different colours - just to check, we are talking about the combi meter connector?

Yes, but also be aware of the LED control unit.

If the engine light comes on and it is part of the display, does the bike start? If the bike runs then that eliminates a lot of the wiring. Then you can pull the speedometer and check the connectors on it and to it. However, if everything else on the speedometer assembly works except the meter itself I would be inclined to pull the VS Sensor.

See page 21-17 of the service manual.

Hi, I am having the same exact issue with my PCX 2016 the engine light is on and the speedometer doesn't work. speedo sweeps round at start-up as normal the engine sounds fine when riding.

suddenly the speedometer works as normal and the check engine light goes away after riding and switching the bike off and on a couple times then it comes back again!

help will be much appreciated.

Sounds like you may have crud in the switches and possibly the speed sensor. The seed sensor is at the back wheel. Check the wires that go into it. Use WD-40 to clean your switches.

Which switches would I have to clean? I have ordered a new speed sensor. waiting for it to be delivered.
Ill report back if this fixed the issue.

There are multiple switches that are susceptible to weather problems, including the side stand switch and the (depending on where you are) Start/Stop or Idle/Stop...or whatever it is called there. Spray some WD-40 in the switch and move it back and forth multiple times. You really need to take that switch off and check the contacts, but I now how difficult that one is to remove.
