Khaosaming, great answer! A bit complicated, but certainly highlights those key differences. Not exactly the easiest in a casual conversation about the awesome PCX, but it helps!

That reminds me -- I've also heard people classify anything with an engine integrated into the swingarm as a scooter as well, because that's where much of the handling characteristics of a scooter are derived from. Obviously some maxi-scooters are exceptions, but this holds true for most scooters.
