Rod Serling's pond & playground

Post by fish »

Who's in charge of leaf removal?
Image

Rod Serling lived by this pond at one time, according to the other local weirdos.
(never liked his show)

He probably hung out in the cemetery across the street from that white fence......

Heavy rains just stopped.
Rode on the Michelins this morning. Even with those -- the many white strips in the city were attention getting!

I am surprised that any snakes are still out. Winter is fast approaching.

We don't worry about the garter snake, but the copperheads will come right up into our carport.

The pic is from my archives taken during a late Summer of yore on another hike but in a different park out of town. You are right about the copperheads. I've seen a number of those up front and personal and usually near a rocky area with a water source.

Here's another from the same place the garter snake pic was taken . . .. The frog blends in quite well with the surroundings. Glad I didn't step on it. o_O

If you yell at the beasts of the forest they will move out of your way...

Seeing that harder snake and Mel's mention of copperheads reminded me of a time I was doing construction inspection on a bridge project. It was summer time and hot in the valley where the bridge would be constructed of course. I was watching several copperheads swimming in the creek below where I was squatting at the edge of the bank staring intently and oblivious to my surroundings at the time. I had my cell phone at my side in it's holder and set to loud ring and vibrate since I was in a noisey construction zone. I got a call from the office about the time I was going to throw a rock into the water. Needless to say I jumped from my swatting position thinking I had been struck by a copperhead that I hadn't seen on the road and almost ended up in the creek with th snakes. I was laughing when I collected my self and checked my drawers the secretary at our office thought it was funny when I told her what I had been doing. I didn't get too close to the bank to watch the snakes after that day.
Ride fast and keep it between the fences!
