Givi Outback Trekker 58L topcase

Post by outlander »

I have a 58l Givi Outback Trekker topcase on my vstrom 1000. I would like to use it on the PCX. Can anyone advise me what I need to mount the top case to the bike?

I think the first thing you will need to know is if it is considered a fixed system or removable system. That will give you an idea as to how it is held on. There are adapter plates for removable systems, so determine how it is installed.
Givi has now split the Trekker series and the Outback series into separate areas, so you may have a problem finding adapter plates for your particular box. However, other riders have been successful at adapting these boxes, as I have seen for myself, so it can be done. If you can't order the adapter plate from Givi you may end up creating a custom plate. Do you already have at least a base plate on your PCX?

Just remember that someone had to have thought this up in order to create it in the first place. You can just "reverse engineer " the holding plate and adapt it for your PCX. Good luck. It can be done.

The outback Trekker top case uses the monkey system. I
already have a shad baseplate and adapter for a shad box. So I am going to remove the shad adapter and try to use the shad base plate.

The Givi E251 universal adapter looks like it attaches to the base plate exactly the same as the shad. Therefore it should work. It is going to look huge on the PCX for sure but I need the storage and I'm trying to save as much money as possible riding the PCX.

In that case, look for one of these plates. Note that the M8 and M9 plates are meant for the trekker.

The Givi M9A rack arrived. I used the Shad base rack and hardware, it seems pretty solid, just in case I tied safety cord with 550 Paracord in case it was to come loose.

I can't post pics on here due to the picture sizing but I have pictures here:

I don’t think it looks too big. The panniers fill out the width.

Will it fit a chicken in?

Well, if you are going to do any traveling, that bike has the storage now! Wow! I have a tunnel bag for my bike, but I have never used it since I have a tailbox and the bike has a lot of storage already. I bought it when we were doing long day trips (300 - 400 miles in a day) and just having fun on them.
