Buzz from ABS

Post by Docscooter2010 »

I know this topic has been brought up on the forum in 2018 , and I have read all the posts . Had my pcx 6 month now and the buzz noise from what I read is the ABS self test is still happening. The thing I want to know is has anyone had this fault fixed in anyway . My scooter is due for its 600 ml service next week and I was hoping there was a quick fix to stop the buzz . Had a Forza 125 abs that never buzzed . Must be a dodgy part somewhere. Been onto Honda U.K. they just say mention it to your dealer . I know it’s not a big deal but should this really be happening. Any thoughts would be welcomed .

Mines a 2019 and it's always buzzed on pull away or when I hit a slippy surface under braking that activating the ABS.

I assumed it was the ABS system working. I've never locked the wheel up so it is deffo working. It's normal AFAIK.

FYI I've owned my bike from new. It was serviced 3 months ago. No issues.

My thinking is over a matter of time and the amount of pcx on the road at the moment more owners will get a bit annoyed with this buzz . Pulled away from a supermarket car park the other day and got a filthy look from some guy , sure he thought I nicked it because of the buzz sounded like some alarm . Must be some simple fix !!, bit of chewing gum or something or ear plugs . Give it time a recall could be on the cards .

Why aren't you mentioning it to the dealer as Honda suggested?

Got my scooter from Hunts in Manchester , but because I live in Durham which is about 150 mile away , I never thought there was much point . I have mentioned the problem to my local dealer who I will be getting my service off Yamaha / Suzuki dealer , but like I have said , if no one has come up with a solution to fix it I don’t really want them taking panels off just for an annoying buzz . Will wait till someone comes up with a way to fix it , I’ll put up with it for now , but thanks for your input.

What about a more local Honda dealer to check it out?

The nearest Honda dealer is Tilstons , Stockton on Tees. Think it’s about 17 ml away . That’s where I did a part ex on my 2011 pcx for a Forza a few year back , not a bad dealer .
Don’t really want to go down the road of as I have said , taking panels off when no one else seems to have an issue with it , if I knew for sure what it was and how it could be rectified great , let them sort it out . Could be just a squirt of WD40 in something, hopefully time will tell .The more owners of 2019 models that come forward with the buzz from the ABS maybe we could find an easy fix

I think you might be getting caught in a loop here.

I'm pretty sure if you're removing the fuse of the ABS the buzz will go away - together with the ABS function.
Come on, the ABS is buzzing. As you are closer to it on the bike than in a car, you hear it. Nothing wrong with that.

Not really the quick fix I was hoping for . Not much point disabling the ABS altogether, but thanks for the post

Yeah, but what are you expecting? The ABS pump is buzzing. Period. It buzzes in all applications, let it be a car, or a motorcycle. As it is in front of you and the body of the scooter is amplifying it's noise means that you hear it more than in other applications.
There's no way around it. If you want to silence it, the only way is to disable. Otherwise you gotta learn to live with it in return for saving your arse.

I got a v4 version, bought in June 2018 in France.

I found that ABS buzz quite strange at the beginning as it's a bit loud.
After check with two Honda dealers, it appears to be absolutely normal, it's the sound of the ABS system on the PCX. (pressure pump i guess)
After 9000km, same noise, no problem at all.
I tried an other pcx 2018 of a friend, exact same sound.

I think the ABS system on front only is cheaper/noisier than the Forza 125 one, but it works well, even on very slippery surfaces.
When you do a very big braking without releasing the lever, it makes BzzzBzzzBzzzBzzzBzzz until complete stop.

Only complain i have to do is that it activates a bit too easily, even on big bumps without touching the brake, like preventive activation.

So don't worry, it's normal, and the game is to ride and brake without activating it ;)

On a similar subject, some years ago I had a titanium knee replacement and it clunked like crazy. My specialist assured me it would be fine and I'd get used to it. He was right, it took about six months and now I hardly notice it. Except when I'm prowling around the house in the dark at night trying not to wake my wife. I'm a lousy sleeper.

As long as it doesn't lock up.

How many problems on the internet could be solved be face to face contact, rather than typing to unknown idiots like us :D

I don't believe it!!! North Lakes is our local shopping centre, we live 10 minutes drive away in Petrie. It truly is a small world.

I only know of one other PCX in our area, he parks it every day at the local railway station.

A small world indeed , think the shopping centre is called Westfield, My daughter just lives near the bus station in North lakes , she’s been there nearly 2 years now . Been in the Tavern a few times for a scunner of ale while I was there . Thought Chermside might have been closer for you to do your shopping. Any way great chatting with you , I’ll look out for more of your posts . Cheers
