Refreshing 50cc Racing . . . Will Make You Grin!

Post by Old Grinner »

There's just something about ringing the neck out of a smaller machine that seems exhilarating and refreshing. Call me crazy! :D

As they say, "It's more fun to ride the slower machines fast than to ride the faster machines slow".

Watch the tachometer during the shifts . . .. Wow. ;)

From the land of Heineken let the race go on! 8)

I had a Honda Hell Cat 450 DOHC in the late 60's. Factory red line was 12,000.
4 speed went exactly 10 MPH per 1000 rev's in 4th- thus 100 MPH @ 10,000, 120 MPH @ 12,000 rpm.
And yes, it could.
This was the bike that led me to abandon British bikes (and more) completely.
Sorry, we didn't take pic's back then.

How do you get that kind of speed from a 50cc engine!?? I wonder if it was still a 50cc when they finished doing whatever they did to them?? Imagine this mighty little 150cc PCX with those changes. I know that gearing makes a difference but come on now. Those little bikes had 1/3 the CCs, so what is their secret? Is the PCX wasting a lot of horsepower or something?
