Lean angles and the 2019

Post by Racer83L »

So I have always been a spirited rider in the past. The PCX has been pretty good to me as far as leaning it over, I have scraped on the left side and only scraped the centerstand. On the right side however, the first thing that scrapes the ground is the body panels. I was very disappointed that this happened. I didn’t drop the bike, I was riding about 30 MPH and leaned over and SCRAPE. I knew right away it wasn’t metal that touched the ground, I pulled over and Saw this....

Is it my eyes? The picture is upside down right? I've been trying to post it right side up for you but it keeps reverting back to it's wrong position AFTER I submit. Very odd.

Guess we'll have to turn our heads. Flashback! Linda Blair (remember that horrid movie The Exorcist?),
She ain't got Nuttin' on Us!

My advice? Stop leaning over too far. It'sa scooter! Buy the proper bike and add a Bell for luck :D

You were having way too much of a good time, you have more guts than me leaning so much on skinny tires like that.

A solution might be to put a coating of some sort on the panel. Isn't there a polyester powder coating that can be applied to those bottom panels? The panels themselves are easy to remove...well, on my 2013 it is simple. I just pull the rubber foot pad off, remove 5 or 6 screws (including one in the wheel well), remove a bolt on the side, and presto!

When you lean it and scratch it that much, no ceramic/coating/rubber or anything will hold up. You’d even make a mess of paint protection film, if you scraped it that hard. The Man went through the primer, that's not really considered just a “scratch”…

Thanks for the input , I got a 2019 model and i was wondering where i got thoses scratches !

I got a bit less scratches on mine though

Actually the tires on the 2019 are wide enough and quite comfortable in corners

I would say that those scratches came from cornering too close to the curb. There is no way that you could lean the bike that much on a flat surface without dumping it.

No curb on the corner where I was.. and no, didn’t dump bike. I did order a replacement part this morning. I almost feel like the price was too low to believe.

Share a photo if you don’t mind. Also, I feel the same way about being confident leaning the bike over in corners- other than scraping It never felt unstable or squirrelly.
