New windshield is hitting one of my mirrors.. solutions?

Post by romnation »

I just recently purchased this Puig windshield here.

https://puigusa.com/en/tuning-motos/win ... bike=11705

After installing it, I noticed it is hitting one of my mirrors. I can turn to the right at full lock, but not to the left. I also noticed the Puig did come with a kit which slightly extends the mirror out. This is not a good solution for me, if anything I would like shorter mirrors, as I need to retain my lane filtering ability and do not want my mirrors to stick out any wider. Are there any other solutions here? Maybe I can adjust the stalk somehow or are there any aftermarket mirrors that won't extend them any further than the stock width.

Obviously because it came with extenders, they expect you to use those. If you don’t want to do that I suggest you have the windshield cut in the place that it hits, (done with a sanding drum, not blade) or look for a shorter mirror on eBay which is going to give you much less visibility.

Buy some mirror extenders. They move the mirror stalks outward about 1.5" to 2".

Mel,

I appreciate the reccomendation, but I am not looking to extend my mirrors out any further due to lane splitting concerns. I ended up ordering these and am going to ditch the stock mirrors entirely. Hoping they work out well on the PCX.

In Chicago? I thought lane splitting was only allowed in California. Well, good luck.

Technically not legal, but very well tolerated within city limits. Unless you're flying past people and being wreckless, cops aren't going to bother. They have much better things to do here. Without lane filtering, you would never actually get anywhere in this city.

The mirror can probably be adjusted back a bit, don't know if it will come back enough though.
