Oil Spec Forza 300 2019

Post by Mark2260 »

Morning,
Im about to change my oil at 300 miles, I have Motul 5100 10w30 in the garage also 10w40, they are both MA2 rated, I also have fully synthetic 5w30 car oil, Imassuming the 10w30 will be fine? or will I need a MB rated oil (prefer semi for first few thousand miles, Motul is fully synth).
My local Honda dealer just throws 10w40 in, which was Petronas last time my previous bike was done at 600 miles, any thoughts please.
Thanks
Mark

Read the owners manual.
If it says 10w30 at 600 miles use 10w30 at 600 miles.
Don't change it early.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

It is a low tech engine with no clutch in the engine oil so practically anything will work.

Does the 2019 Owner's manual still suggest a 10W30 Moly oil? It is almost impossible to find in the Vancouver, Canada dealers.

I am about to do oil change #8 on my 2014 Forza 300 with 103,000 km on the odometer. I use Honda 12,800 km interval.

It does say use a 10w30 MB rated oil, but the only oil i see so far is the Motul scooter oil in 10w30 but its fully synthetic not semi. might need to order some of that then, my last bike asked for 10w30 MA2 but my dealer said 10w40 is fine , Honda UK said so?.
I never really worried about oil in the past, but first service will be due soon, they want £100 for an oil change plus i have to take an afternnon off as there mechanics dont work on a Sat morning, so thats lost wages or holiday, might just do it myself, crazy it is.

I just use 10W-40. Protects better on blistering summer days.
10W-30 is better for serious cold weather but your bike will be in the garage.

Will you be riding in summer? Of course.
Dead of winter- Probably not

10W-40 FTW

10w40 in the crankcase and the rear end here in fla....a few qts of conventional Dino Amazon oil, changed annually for me.

But as said above, this is a very low tech/ low stressed engine, it’s not an F1 engine or even a drag race engine, you can use practically anything and be OK…

Just had a chat with the parts dept at Honda and the 10w30 it is, Honda Blackpool dont sell HP4M oil or any Honda oil it seems, person on the phone wasnt sure what i was talking about by the sounds of it even when i mentioned MA and MB flavours and said they use Motul in everything at the 600 mile service and beyond, case closed it seems.
