How do you judge stopping performance on the PCX 150, on a scale of 1-5?

I reckon 2-3, for me.

2016 PCX 150 BRAKES

Post by JIMJFOX »

I find them a bit 'soggy' and needing heavy pressure on levers.

Any suggestions for giving more 'bite'?
What about better disc, pads, drum linings?
Or maybe braided lines?

Anyone who has tried these, or other mods is invited
to advise me! I'd REALLY like more 'feel' and feedback
from my stoppers...

Impact 260mm wave rotor and offset bracket from webike Japan, on sale about $70 plus shipping. 6 colors too..here's mine.
NCY makes one too, and for the really hard to please theres a four pot Brembo clone called 'Frando' caliper available as well has braided line kits et al.

And in between these and the stock there is another level of upgrade with EBC wave rotors and sintered pads. Hint: use the search fubction for "front brake upgrade" all years have the same brake setup.

Man!! How clean is your bike! This is one beautiful set-up; what are those new forks?
I have dealt with Webike Japan, absolutely outstanding service BUT... in Thailand I
got whacked 50% 'duty' on my S/S exhaust system. Worse, the authorities 'assign' a
value regardless of what you actually paid, THEN calculate this duty.
So new rotor could cost twice or more than the real price. Sorry, now I'm whining!

Thanks to both responders. Appreciate your input.

Well you're in Thailand so you can get the forks from powerbypcx.com they're in Phuket. You might try asking Emmet or Heiko there if there's a 260mm rotor and offset bracket kit they know of sold in Thailand.

Thanx again- went to site, to my surprise they price only in Euro or USD... in Phuket? Anyway, emailed them.

k2apache6.0,

Would you mind sending me a link or source for your upgraded front brakes, please? I want to do the same for my 2013 pcx. Someone else ha suggested EBC, and I noticed that NCY has a 260mm rotor they sell as well. I figured that since you have upgraded yours, you would know what works. By the way, doesn't the PCX have a 3 piston setup? How does that work with upgrades? Does it just hook right up?

Hi Mel,
yes it's a straight hookup with the included adapter bracket, and yes PCX has a 3 piston set up. The 3 pistons work when the front brake lever is pressed, the middle piston (only) is activated when using the rear brake lever. It appears the Impact brand kit for the PCX has been discontinued by Webike, but I found this kit from KN Planning, fits KF12 as well.

Looks like gold is the only color in stock, but that is fine. Should I change pads as well? I noticed that Sinister pads were mentioned.

I'd always change pads with a new rotor Mel, any decent pads should do.
