As I mentioned, the ONLY inspection is for federal emissions. You drive up to this machine. They connect something to your computer and something else to your gas cap to make sure it seals correctly, and that is it. It takes 5 minutes and costs from $15 to $25... up to the station. It is all computerized and sends the results to the DMV.

Nothing else is checked. You could drive in with square tires and the inspection station would not care. We use to not even have that but the Federal Government said that Atlanta has really bad air quality, so this was their solution. I don't even know if the rest of Georgia has this inspection. So imagine what is on the roads in Georgia. :-/

MikeP, you are lucky in that you don't have to ride very far to see beautiful countryside. One of our kids lives in Washington State with her family. When we are fortunate enough to go for a visit we marvel at the beautiful scenery. We wish we could afford to live up there. Vancouver is just a ferry boat ride away from their house.

Whitenoise, thanks for the warm welcome back! Life is so busy, I forget to smell the roses sometimes.

Mel, you are right the west coast is beautiful. However it is easy to take it for granted at times. I remember going to Calgary AB for two years in my late teens, greener pastures I thought. When I came back I realized I must have been brain dead to leave in the first place!

Got out for a short evening ride. Some new lots being developed for housing. Lots only about 1/2 Mill to start. The view costs, so I am satisfied with a photo...

Yes, the view is beautiful, and a picture is worth a thousand words....or in your case, worth more than the cost of the lot. :-)

When our daughter sends us a link to a house she thinks we can afford, the house looks cheaply built, so we know that the price is for the view, not the house.

WoW..........Beautiful! Mountain views = costly lots. We all need to win Lotto! I look at this photo and I can hear the Peace (ok not really but you know.....) ;)

My turf is level ground, with Busy roads in/around condo city! Ain't cheap living either. Property tax for my postage stamp? $8,500/yr. and always climbing! Nothing to See but a mirror image of what I got.
But, ride yer bike a few miles and.....you're Seeing Water.
That! Me friends, I Love :P

Ok, I will. The little ducky in the photo was on the country road that I was hauling on. 50km hr loaded and unable to stop in time. I squeeled like a girl, and centered myself to staddle the little gaffer.
Success! Gave him a dusting of warm air, but as I watched my mirrors, I had a huge sigh of relief. He was unscathed!
Times like this I wonder.....

I'm glad you didn't end up hitting that little quacker. It would have been a shame. Unfortunately, if it doesn't stop playing in the road it will become road tar. Ugh!

Wow! Well at least they looked both ways before crossing. :-)
(It didn't seem to make much difference though. They still went, even with all that traffic. But then, it IS Florida. They came there to relax and they brought the family along.)

"Happy Labor Day Hooligan's!"
A Sure Sign that Summer's wrapping itself up. Are We Happy About That?
Noooooo not I, said mini-mod-me
My friend's are down at the club pool before it closes for the season. I'm not a fish, but I will fish. I'd enjoy that.
Is it me or did summer fly this year? Wow. It did!

Screw that! I'm about to hop the scoot on a jaunt. Feeling lucky $today$ so I will swing by the stationary store and buy me a Millionaire Dollar Scratch off...and WIN!! How's that for being optimistic? :D

Thanks WN! I think this is the fastest Summer I've ever seen. People just want to get over the heat and humidity. Record setting in more ways than one.

Good luck on your lottery ticket. :D

Sad joke but unfortunately it happens all too often. Or they drive into buildings or back up into someone or something because they thought they had the shifter in Drive. I try to be patient with the elderly because I'm getting up there in age also but sometimes I think some of these people were certified idiots from the day they were born and old age has nothing to do with it.

I agree. Recently we had one of the incidents in which an elderly person drove right through a shop window. Parking was in front of the store, with a cement bump to stop the cars. Well, she drove up to the bump, and instead of stopping, she gunned it. The car jumped the curb and sidewalk, and ran through the plate glass window, stopping only after enough "stuff" stopped the forward progress of the car. She should not have been allowed to drive. I think they took her license away since it wasn't her first incident.

On that same day, within an hour of that incident and within a block of that incident, another old person rammed their car into the side of a parked car as they tried to get out of a parking space. That individual had backed halfway out of the space, turned the wheel, put the car in drive and stomped on the accelerator. Then he kept his foot on the accelerator as his car pushed the parked car sideways. People were yelling at him to stop, but he just looked at them with a blank look. I hope the cops took his license too.

No wonder Bambii didn't stand a chance!
