Do I have to use MB oil?

Cycle shop only sells Honda 10W-30 MA oil for wet clutch motorcycles. The manual says to use MB since, I'm assuming, the Forza has a dry clutch. Does it make a difference and can I also just use full synthetic Mobil 1 10W-30 automobile oil? This will be my first oil change after the 600 mile break-in.

Doesn't need to be MB but at 600 miles better so steer clear of fully synthetic imo.

Starting with my 600 mile change i switched to mbil 1 synthethic. I change every 9 mo or so. No prob for the last 3 years....

Better to fully break the engine in on regular oil, you might be ok at 600 miles though. Personally I do 1k on regular oil then a full synthetic thereafter.

Well the manual states to not use any oil for the Forza that has energy or resource conserving label on the back of the bottle.

Some posters have stated thats not true, you can use it since Forza has a dry clutch. But someone else said Honda manual is correct.

I don't know, I know I can't feel good going against the manual and will use Cheap Chevron 10W-40 dino oil next change which has not resource or energy conserving on the back.

So long as the oil is slippery you'll be fine.
Sticky oil is no good.

Honda manuals are written by lawyers who, bright as they are, mostly copy anything they can get their
hands on, hence some bizarre, irrelevant 'warnings'.

I have used car energy conserving oil many times in the Forza, no problem. Any good oil that comes
cheap on a given day will be just fine (to date, 30K, I think I must have used all available brands/
viscosities available around here, engine doesn't give a damn).

The service manual recommends Honda Pro HP4M 4 stroke oil...this has molybdenum additives in it, which add "slipperiness" to the oil. Use it if possible...Honda must have some reason for recommending it over their oils without molybdenum.

The service manual also adds to the above recommendation "....or equivalent motorcycle oil, API service classification: SG (owners manual says SJ) or higher, except oils labeled as energy conserving on the circular API service label), JASO T903 standard: MB, SAE 10w30.

If the dealer doesn't have the HP4M oil, they can order it...I don't think there's much difference in price. Sadly, motorcycle dealers don't seem to always be familiar with scooters!

I have never seen HP4M 10W30 anywhere locally. Like Agium says any oil will do. I have 77653 km on my very early production Forza and I use the factory 12,000 km oil change interval.

Appreciate all the answers. I bought the Forza new (2014 model sitting at the dealership for several years), and I believe it came with regular oil. So after the initial 600 mile interval, I'll change it to full synthetic, right? The dealer said they didn't carry the MB oil because nobody around here rides scooters (hence why they sold the Forza below cost ), but they'd order some cases for me.

The old adage that synthetics are too slippery to add to a new engine is BS.The factory fill has the proper amount of friction modifiers necessary to seat the rings.After 600 add whatever you like,Honda had already took that into consideration.

My wife has a battery electric mower, if I don't use the Honda mower she does the mowing. Doesn't say a lot about my morals, but at least the grass gets cut.
