Attempted theft...

Post by ScottDR »

So, thank goodness my PCX was blocked in behind my wife's car. AND glad the secondary ignition lock and steering lock held up. AND my OEM top box lock. Can't believe they all still work as intended, Honda did their job on the design.

The bastards laid the bike against the rear of my wife's accord to take their time chiseling away.

*Sigh*

Any FM transmitter types that can alert me besides the SCORPIO SR-I900?

There was a recent thread on a SPY 5000M, 2 way alerting was one of it's tricks (also had starter kill and remote start).

Its real bad I know, can't have anything nice out there without people wanting to steal it. I don't even attempt to park my scooter even to just see a 90 minute movie even if its in Bill Gate's neighborhood.

Sorry to see that. . ..

I know how I felt when I had a motorcycle stolen years ago. :(

The upside is you still have the PCX and your health! ;)

I wish you weren't so far away. I would offer to help you repair your bike. Does your ignition still work or are you going to have to replace it? I am guessing that they tried to jam a screwdriver into the ignition. It sucks that you can't park your bike at home and feel that it is safe.

Thanks all. Mel, it would be great to have some help. So, the good news, it's usable. The locks actually work and the secondary lock did it's job for sure. Today I rode it after doing a careful inspection. They didn't get into the trunk or under the seat, but did destroy the latch mechanism to the OEM trunk, I found out today :(. So that opened the wound again. *sigh*

Oem trunk?? Are you talking about the tail box? That shouldn't be too difficult to "macgyver". If it is too far gone then order one from any other manufacturer. Honda does NOT make their own tail box. All of them should have the same way of connecting to your bike.

I have Givi, but there are others that are almost as popular.

Isn't the OEM lock cylinder replaceable? I seem to remember seeing that on the parts list. Based on the pics, that may be all you need.

Yes, the lock cylinder is replaceable on the top box. Unfortunately the double latching mechanism is damaged. I will contact Honda to see if there is any hope of a latch assembly replacement. Thanks again all. I'm still upset at the whole thing. Going to follow up with the building management company to see if they found anything on video and be sure the police have it as well.
