hi people I'm new pcx 2016 just cut off

Post by kevgam »

hi people I'm new here,
i have a 2016 pcx 125 it just stopped running yesterday as i was riding along. i got it taken home and have had a look today. its got a spark and the fuel pump primes but then the spark goes and the fuel stops pumping.

i have removed the fuel pump and that runs and works. now when I'm cranking the engine i have no earth to the fuel pump the power side is fine, checked all the fuses and easy things.

does this bike have a crank shaft sensor? thanks kevin

That is a pain. You say checked easy things, have you checked the battery. My thoughts were battery or alternator. Hoping it is the battery or something else simple

Like other FI Hondas, it should have a Crank Position Sensor (Forza's is 110 ohms, 1.6 Vac @ cranking
speed, easy to check with a multitester). They're all +/- built the same, so should have similar specs.

With this sensor defective, there's no spark, no fuel injection (yet it may work for a few seconds
before giving up). Initial pump action is pre-programmed in the ECU and lasts about 2 secs. You'd
need a wiring diagram to see clear through this, but it's fairly easy to locate the sensor's wiring
and test it.

UPDATE

If it has the Stop/Start system, its Crank Pos. Sensor is one complicated, multi-wire gimmick,
much more sophisticated in operation (just had a look at the corresponding diagram, available
online by googling 'pcx 125 wiring diagram'. Looks like this thing can't be tested without a
factory shop manual...

Does it show any fault code ?

On the fault codes im getting one long blink then to fast ones after it. Yes i would say it has stop start. So is the prankshaft sensor apart of the start motor charging system system?

Fault code #12 refers to INJECTOR, on both Hondas I own ( Giorno + Forza ).

- ECU can't diagnose a fuel pump problem.
- CKP problem may or may not have a code #, depending on year/model. If not, shop manual should
indicate resistance/Vac output specs.

You need a shop manual, or a competent dealer...

Hi,

According to the workshop manual you're having a fuel injector circuit malfunction, for troubleshooting send me a PM ;)

Howdy kevgam, welcome aboard! :) Glad our mechanical tooling members have come along to help you get things sorted. I'd also try to get my hands on a shop manual - they are invaluable - best tool in the house!
