If this happened in a PCX, wouldn't it be a "relatively" easy job just to re-bore the solitary cylinder - new piston & rings - throw in a few bearings - and be away again?
YES! A person can make repairs for catastrophic engine seizure IMO. Here's me getting on with pistons, bearings and cylinders quite easily with little or no prior experience. Bike runs perfect to this day so YES you can do anything :D

I thought for a second "Holy torpedo batman - the PCX sure has a much bigger piston than I ever imagined"!

Gosh 'merican's talk with a funny accent :D

All good stuff though. I've got no idea how long my PCX engine will last. I asked the dealer once (salesman) when I first got it and he said "30,000km is getting pretty high for a scooter". I asked the chief mechanic the same question and he came up with a figure of 60,000 to 70,000km. Who knows. It's coming up on 33,333 (at which point I'm going to change the plug, belt, driven face) and inspect the clutch. I've got new front and rear brake shoes lined up for next time the respective wheels are off for a tyre change. Engine purrs as good as the day I got it though (hopefully aided by 4,000km oil changes). Only burning 60-70ml between changes. Fingers crossed she'll make 100,000km.

Thanks - I'm hoping that they'll cost less than engine repairs long term!

Close ... :)

Yeah / Nah (or "Yeah Right!") (Tui ad)

Sweet! (or "Sweet as mate")

and of course, "Gidday" (not to be confused with "G'Day" or "G'Day Mate" , which is more Australian) :D

Jeepers - she sure can talk!

The yeah/nah thing came from a "responsible drinking" advertisement.

And for what it's worth, the "sweet as" thing always leaves me thinking "sweet as WHAT?".
