Mirrors

Post by The Poacher »

Hi, can anyone recommend me some slightly wider mirrors, I'm quite broad shouldered and I'm struggling to see behind me clearly.

Get the same mirrors from Honda, except they're wider ...I believe they are for the CB500X…

Can anyone confirm this. I'd like to have wider mirrors to but retain the OEM look.

I struggled with this too at first - in the end I finally got them in a position where they're covering the areas I need behind reasonably well and I've got my shoulders down to showing in slightly less than 1/2 of each mirror - helps if I tuck my elbows in a little (and this is when riding with a puffer jacket). Trick for me was not trying to get both converging on a single spot behind; they're close, but I move my head slightly to be able to get the complete picture of what's behind.

I thought of getting mirrors that stick out a bit more too - but now I've got them adjusted "just so" I made the decision to stick with stock - they're "adequate" for me - not great - not even "good" but adequate.

I may have mentioned this before on another thread but I can see what is directly behind me better from my right mirror (facing forward) and what's about to pass me or coming up along side better from my left mirror. If I got a tall windscreen I'd probably use the mirror extenders that come with it to widen the view. I guess you can also buy mirror extenders on ebay for about $20 a pair plus if you are in the U.K.. The OEM mirrors are 10mm right?

Or in the U.S. from J&P Cycles.

I bought the Givi mirror extenders for both of our bikes. Now I can't imagine not having them. I can actually see on both sides when I ride. No shoulders. No body. Just traffic. Get some mirror extenders.

I don't know if this particular site would sell you the extenders only. I bought mine as a set.

The CB500X mirrors work a treat on my Forza.
Plug and play.....even look like originals....just longer stems.
I posted this fix 3 yrs ago.
(Discovered this one day when looking at my son's CB500X. Beats the heck out of the goofy looking/cheap extenders)

I tried the mirror extenders but it was as if the bolt was to long, it would tighten but the extender was still loose

If you tightened the bolts and it is still loose, use some washers. I had no problem installing my extenders. If the extenders seem to loosen as you ride, get some loctite blue.

I got slightly distracted and bought some R&G extenders. Don't know why

Look OK. Look a bit awkward in the photo but are unobtrusive in real life. I tried them with and without the lower gaiter and preferred with.

When it stops raining  I'll see if the vision is any better.
