What do you think of my new seat cover?

Post by pattomike »

I have gotten used to the stock seat on my 2017 PCX. I have since stopped looking at foam, and reading about foam, and I am so glad to have gotten past it all. What a dreadful time it was. I took the original seat cover during that time and attempted a couple of seat modifications. But like I said, it is back to stock now. But I didn't put the original seat cover back on, and I have been experimenting with different seat cover materials. Today I went ot Walmart and bought a black bandana fabric. It is designed like a bandana that hippies and college drop outs wear. I thought it would look good with the black and white PCX. But I am not impressed. It looks too flowery. What do you think? I also bought some black marine vinyl today, as well. The two fabrics combined only totaled $6.11. Walmart is awesome. Jo-anne Fabrics prices sucks. In case you are wondering, I am not stapling it. I just carefully tuck duct tape along the crevice in front of the rubber seal. It holds the fabric in place quite well. Eventually I will staple it. But there is no hurry for it.

Looks good.

I wouldn't leave the duct tape on for too long.

To me, it looks like it belongs on a Vespa or something like that. But to each his own. As long as you like it, that is the important thing.

Well at least you have the most unique seat cover in the world.

You could be parked in a sea of white 2017 PCX scooters and yours would stand out......like a swore thumb :)

Anyhow, just as long as you like it, that's all that matters

Try looking at it with the black marine vinyl laid over it and you decide. Compare the two. What's your impression? Go with your gut instincts.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

Scooter rash? :D

I truly appreciate all the effort you've put into customizing your saddle. If "You" decide you like that new seat covering you ducted on, then stick-with-it! If you're undecided, take it off and try another "delightful/happy" pattern that suits you. It seems you like "different," so show yourself and find that special seat pattern :P Go on back to Wally World and take another look, they have lotsa choices and as you found, they're cheaper than fabric stores.
Marine vinyl is a good choice. Any vinyl patterns? Just don't choose a Slippery fabric, you'll regret that. Trust me.
Keep us posted please. Oh yeah, cheers for showing us your "something different" cover. Takes guts to take the ribbings that may follow. ;)

I appreciate that you're going for a personalized look. The pattern itself is a little too busy for me, but my sense of style is limited to jeans or shorts and a solid-color T-shirt most of the time. Go with whatever style that puts an even bigger grin on your face when riding the PCX.

Find a wheel that will match your seat color, that would be awesome.

I agree with the first responder who said it looked the opposite of manly. I do not like it. I thought bandana's were supposed to be worn by tough guys? What the hell happened I don't know. My impression was that the seat looked awful. I just wanted to see if you guys agreed, and everyone does. So I am going to change it out! The fabric is cheap enough, and so is duct tape. It might be that black is the best bet. Do they sell colored rims for the PCX? I saw a pic once of a PCX with gold rims, and I really liked it. Or maybe somebody just painted them that color???

Yep it looks incredibly feminine. If any body asks now, I just say it's my girlfriend's scooter. Til such time I can get something new on there.
