It was a long awaited scoot. I believe she arrived in 2013(?) on U.S. tarmac. To be honest, I haven't kept up with it or the folks that own and ride them (over on Modern Vespa), after all this isn't your basic Honda Met scooter @ a few grand,.. this Beauty is Over the Top - Over the Rainbow....at Ten Grand +!!

Re: Vespa 946 - $$ Luxury Scooter $$
Tell me again what a Vespa has that a Honda does. To me the basic style has not changed, while every other scooter manufacturers has tried to be at the cutting edge of technology. There isn't even any storage in It! Frankly, for the money I could find a LOT of other choices, and most of them would have a bigger engine than 155cc. Anyone have a spare $10,499 burning a hole in you Pocket? Go buy a Burgman 400 with it. Wait...that Burgman only costs $7,999. A new Burgman 650 Touring scooter is $10,999 ... but I bet you could get it for $10,499 cash.

Mel46, Vespa the same irrational buying terms of specifications and innovation such as Smart. Even the Fiat 500 in the background looks like a useful Smart purchase.
The Vespa is more like a fetish and not as a necessity for the appropriate money.

I've always liked the scooters and cars drawn, on contract, by Italian
design houses - both the 1st & 2nd gen. Kymco Like's and the 1st gen. FWD VW's (& the Ghia) are favorites.
They do the best promo shoots for advertising. ...but, I think Vespa should have kept this scooter as a concept vehicle. The flying seat...well, you either like it, or not.
Price is interesting, as well, for a 155cc.

Re: Vespa 946 - $$ Luxury Scooter $$
I don't know why, but I can't appreciate the classic Vespa look. I find their prices ridiculous. I can't see myself wanting to ride one.
Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet...
Re: Vespa 946 - $$ Luxury Scooter $$
The 946 is a concept bike the styling of which later filtered down to the very pretty and far more practical Sprint and Primavera.
Sort of like the NM4 Vultus, a styling exercise, built because they can.
Park a PCX beside a Sprint and its very easy to see why the Vespa is more expensive.
