Changes from 2013 to 2017 (or 2018) PCX 150??
I just picked up a 2013 PCX 150 w/ only 270 miles for $2200 today. I could've gotten a 2017 out the door from a dealer for $3600, but I'm not a fan of exorbitant dealer fees and such (which that dealer was actually not exorbitant at all, but the others were wanting to add close to $1000 onto the MSRP; out the door price on a $3200 bike is $4200?!? Get real!)
So anyway, I want to know everything that I'm missing out on, and perhaps see if there's any advantages that the older models have over the newer models...
- I see that newer models have LED headlights. When was that changed?
- Any differences to storage capacity or even overall passenger weight capacity?
- Any changes to windscreens?
- My scooter does not have a lighter socket for charging DC electronics, but I think the newer ones do have that socket. What years had that, even if only an option?
Any other notable changes?

I think LED and 12v socket features started on the 2015 models?
some other changes (I think):
-Bigger fuel tanks from 1.6 to 2.1 gallons
-The 2015 is keyless, uses a remote.
-Built in clock??
-sportier look (arguable)

Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet...

I thought keyless came in with the '16/'17 models not the '15's?alx123 wrote:I think LED and 12v socket features started on the 2015 models?

Another change with the '14 models onwqards were larger capacity battery and some intelligence in the idle-start circuirtry (non US only?)
Hazard warning lights came in with the LED models (non US only?)

The 2017 U.S. model PCX150H still has the "cigarette lighter" type socket in the front storage compartment. No "Smart Key" and it gets IRC stock tires. . .not the City Grips.
The "Idle Stop" feature has never been available on U.S. models either. But we do get the "Parking Brake".

But supposedly the 2013 (or maybe 2014?) and newer models come faster stock??
What is it that limits the newer ones?
ALSO... has the under the seat storage changed at all??

Welcome to our forum(s) and congrats buying a 2013 (faster) PCX from a dealer? Must say, that was a pretty good OTD price you got. You are correct, those extra fees would be in the range of $700-$1,000.00. Crazy, we know
I'm taking a moment to ask you to go back to your profile to add your location. You're asking us about the difference(s) between PCX model year's, well, some of the difference's are different here in the U.S.A. and some are different across the pond.
Hmm...So where are You? If we knew, then we would be more accurate in answering your questions.
I'm not zero-ing in on you, this is part of a mod-squad job and I will request the same from any/all members who "forget" that piece of registration info. Some get by me, but I will catch them later, IF they are still onboard this Awesome PCX community that owner maddiedog runs and operates
So please, go back and complete an easy question that will bring you very helpful results now, and in the future! Directions to do so are right below my post. Thank you in advance! WN
Back on topic: I did a quick search. Here are two threads you might find informative:

Just enjoy what you've got, otherwise you'll end up doing your head in with buyer's remorse...grndslm wrote: So anyway, I want to know everything that I'm missing out on, and perhaps see if there's any advantages that the older models have over the newer models...
But basically going from the OWL to the LED, the changes were: LED lights, integrated turn signals, clock, mpg indicator, charge port, bigger fuel tank, seat holds itself up, seat hump removed, removable grab rail bolt cover for top box (don't need to drill holes), lighter rollers, slightly better acceleration with reduced top speed.
Keyless start and idle stop are not options on the North American models, so you don't have to worry about that.

I think the LEDs are the only thing I'm missing out on then since the NA-model skips out on the keyless ignition. I can dig it.

One of the first reviews I saw from a couple years before 2013 said that the bike was getting Idle Stop, but I never saw anything about it after that. No wonder.... but I was definitely digging it.PCX150Rider wrote:The "Idle Stop" feature has never been available on U.S. models either. But we do get the "Parking Brake".
I'm pretty sure the next bike I'm gonna buy will be electric...
Oh no, it was a private party purchase.WhiteNoise wrote:Welcome to our forum(s) and congrats buying a 2013 (faster) PCX from a dealer? Must say, that was a pretty good OTD price you got.

Don't worry about idle stop, it doesn't turn your headlights off, so it caused lots of battery stress on the older OWL model before that was fixed on the LED models...
I used it one time and the PCX wouldn't start back up for a green light, same happened to my buddy, but his was shut off for a good half hour before it would start again.

What does OWL mean? I've seen it quite a few times here and can't figure it out...chicaboo wrote:But basically going from the OWL to the LED, the changes were: LED lights, integrated turn signals, clock, mpg indicator, charge port, bigger fuel tank, seat holds itself up, seat hump removed, removable grab rail bolt cover for top box (don't need to drill holes), lighter rollers, slightly better acceleration with reduced top speed.

Since the new model was called the LED, I coined the term OWL for the older PCX because the headlight assembly looks like an owl's face.
I've recently started calling the US version of the OWL the SNAIL because of its antennas and being so slow compared to the AU version.

Apparently there was a lost shipment of these faster 2013 PCX's that drifted around the Indian Ocean up through the South Atlantic and finally washed up 4 years later in container's on Jersey Beach. They didn't know what the hell to do with them because they only ride vintage Vespa so they shipped them to Wisconsin
