It works for both, the gearing just provides less benefit to the 150. :D
Currently ride: 2011 Honda PCX 125 - Upgraded windshield and seat, keeping this one mostly stock
Previously rides: 2005 V-Strom DL650, 1974 Vespa Ciao, 2011 Honda PCX 170 (tons of mods - takegawa 170cc big bore kit, gears, etc), 1996 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1987 Honda Spree, 2000 KTM 125SX, 2003 Honda Silverwing, 2007 Genuine Buddy 125, 1998 Honda PC800, 2008 Buddy 125 (white), 2008 Buddy 125 (red), 2001 Honda Reflex, 1987 Honda Elite, 1988 Honda Spree, 2007 Yamaha Vino, 2007 Honda Metro, 2x 125cc pure-chinesium dirt bikes

I wish you luck.

According to a formula I have you'll need about 19- 19.5 hp to get 85 from a PCX. It is difficult to predict because I never know if quoted speeds for PCX's are real or indicated. If you can get the 19 odd HP from 170 or 173 without porting the head and using a different cam etc. you are in with a chance.

It would be good because then I can tweak my aerodynamic coefficient for a PCX. It falls somewhere between a small and medium sport bike, just not sure which way.

Maddiedog you can get a speedo healer to correct the speedometer error. That's what most cbr250r guys buy. Then you could correct the speedometer to gps and have it actually accurate.

Not worth the $120...

Yep. Easier to recalibrate with Scotch-like tape and a felt maker! One of the advantages of an analogue speedo.

I started installing this last night. It took less than two weeks to get in, that's fairly fast for overseas shipping.

The gearbox area:

I need to find a hydraulic press to push the old final gear off the driveshaft and push the new one on. The old final drive gear is a fair bit larger in diameter than the new one, and the old stock gear that turns the final gear is way smaller in diameter than the new one.

For reference, that final gear is ON THERE. The 12 ton press couldn't handle it, I had to use a huge one at a machine shop at work. The Yumi kit's installation is not for the faint of heart.

Look at how huge that press is:

I don't know if you heated the old gear with a oxy acetylene kit might have made it easier. That's how ring gears are fitted on flywheels on cars. It expands when heated and goes tight when it cools down.

Well, how did it go? Im curious to know how this turned out!

Also, what is the gearing change for a PCX 150?

12.8% (http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1981)

When I started the thread, I wasn't aware that the 125 has shorter gearing.

Does the PCX125 have shorter gearing or is the downhill top speed advantage of the 150 just because of the higher redline. The 150 has a 9,600 rpm versus 9,200 for the 2013 PCX125. The 150 will hit the rev limiter at 66mph and the 125 will hit it at 62 downhill.

Final gear on the 125 is 47 teeth, final gear on the 150 is 44 teeth.

I ordered my Yuminashi gear set last night.
Installing it will be an interesting experience.

According to Yuminashi website, the 2013 PCX150 has a longer belt than all the other scoots in the PCX range.
This 23100-KWN-000 version is the shorter version from the Gates Powerlink V-belt, and if you install this version on a first generation PCX150 you will actually be able to gain a slightly higher top speed, which is different compared to a new 2014 PCX125/150 or a second generation PCX125 where the top speed will remains the same.
So I ordered the shorter belt.

Well my existing belt runs as far out as I would dare on the front pulley; The only way to lengthen the gearing there would be to use a shorter belt.

Where from? I haven't been able to contact Reggie directly, and his dealers can't seem to get in touch with him either.

I'm also curious if you managed to get ahold of the Yuminashi sensor I hear is needed in order to get a proper speedo reading.

That sounds a bit suspicious about Reggie going off radar. I would be looking at other options until we find what's happening.

Well, other options are somewhat limited. It's strange, since his Facebook page seems to have a recent post on January 8th. so I know he at least has access to the internet. I'd also think there really ought to be more than one person in the company that's responsible for reading and responding to e-mails.

I believe it is old stock from before it came with the speed sensor. Seems Yuminashi don't have stock.
I expect the PCX150 sensor would work fine - might have to tweak something but I'll post my findings.
But first, the long wait.
