Sorry to bump this from the depths, but I am really interested in getting the same camera, especially as it's 125quid now!.

You said you used 3m Tape, how do you access the camera I assume it pops out from the case somehow?

3M Dual Lock on the side of the waterproof Case and some on the Helmet itself, well, mine's on the Visor as with my Helmet shape it gives the best 'up right' vision,
the Case opens from the front really easily and the Camera just slides in and out, no need to take the Case off the Helmet...
you can either use your Phone/Wifi to record (and view what it's seeing on your Phone)
or like I do.. simply turn it on then press the power button at the back of the Case until you hear the beep, then you know it's recording..
really nice Camera though, quality is really good!

Only problem is, if you want to use an external Mic and so on, you'll have to leave the Case off, meaning you'll have to put the Dual Lock on the Camera itself,
but then obviously the Camera wont be waterproof, but still easy to take off the Helmet if it starts raining...

But the Camera still sounds good without an external Mic I think.

While ease of mounting is important I got some comments specifically for bikes from a friend who films ads for TV and uses Gopro extensively. From a viewers perspective, keeping the horizon as horizontal as possible is important. Generally a helmet mounted cam or a chest mounted one is better as on curves and bends we naturally try and keep ourselves level to some extent. It's the bodies natural tenancy to balance the inner ear thing. If the cam is bike mounted then the viewers get tossed around and it's more difficult to watch. The pro folks use both and bring in the bike mounted footage for effect but sparingly. If your doing it purely for yourself obviously it doesn't matter so much so mount it wherever convenient.
I am going to send away for one of these 40 piece Gopro rip off kits on Ebay that comes from China with the chest straps. I have had great success with these Chinese camera accessories and generally save about 80-90% from OEM.

One problem with a helmet mount is the shock you get on replay if you turn your head....

Which camera are yas talking about??

Groovy :D Monty! Can Ya share a link to that 40 piece grab-bag?
I'm not up on the Go-Pro cameras but from what I've read, and seen on websites, YouTube and all over TV, I think I'm tempted to buy one. Almost did last week at Best Buy, but got nervous as I'm not sure of what I'm buying or doing...kind of confusing with all the gadgets that hang on the wall behind it o_O Holy Smoker's! Lots! Of Stuff!
I would use it on the dash of my truck as well (trips or long rides).
I just have so much to learn....starting with, Silver vs Black,...like, which model is best & best suits my
needs?
Haha...The GoPro's are like looking at a Diner Menu! There's the Camera then...So many side dishes! Extra-extra! $$ :D

P.S. I know member sendler really likes his "non-Go-Pro camera" a lot!!
Why all the choices? Just scrambles me mind more than it is. ( :? Lead in for 2yous to comment. Bring it on fella! )

GoPros are just too overpriced. I've got a Toshiba x-sport. 1080fps & 60fps, colour screen, waterproof case and a shed load of fittings. Works perfectly

Glad I had the camera, especially after the accident I had :-)

Just wondering, does anyone know of a cheap but good external Mic for the Sony Action Camera?
well... that will work with it at least.

I just got the Skeleton Frame for it, so I can not use the Camera on my Helmet without the main waterproof Case,
as you can't access the ports when it's in that....
fair enough the Camera won't be waterproof in the Skeleton Frame but i'm never out in the rain,
if it does start to rain then i'll simply take the Camera off and head home
(but never really far from my house if it looks like it's going to rain)

I want to try an external Mic though, just going from the side of the Helmet and then tucked inside,
just so I don't have the horrible wind noise,
plus it might pick up the Bike sounds better as well.

Any suggestions...

Seen ones like this, they all mention GoPro though, but guessing that's just to it being the main Action Camera:

If the go pro has a 3.5mm single jack then any microphone with this connector should work. Try Amazon too? And a windproof mic cover?

Newest Mini Sony doesn't have a external mic port lol
guess i'm stuck with wind noise,
unless I can get some sort of form to go around the mic bit.
