Does anyone have experience with this item: WOLO Bad Boy Horn 12 Volt, 123.5 Decibels 530 / 680 Hz.
Is this an item that rally contributes to safety?

Is the chrome version high quality and worth the extra price?
Is it necessary to buy the special wiring kit?
IS it necessary to buy an additional relay?

Thanks for any information.

I have a Bad Boy horn on mine. I stuffed it under the black console cover in front of the instrument panel. It doesn't matter what color it is. It won't be seen. Also, the original horn wiring is not adequate for it. I connected mine directly to the battery and used a relay that was attached to the original horn wires. I also left the original horn connected because it takes a moment to wind up the horn compressor on the Bad Boys and I am sure you would prefer something in that split second it takes to wind up.

I have one on a Slingshot, and will note:
  • It draws about 10A. The main horn should trigger a relay, which the secondary is fed by. Battery -> Fuse -< Relay -> Horn
Drawing a large amount of current can pose problems with sensitive electrical systems, not sure if the PCX would be affected. IF you do this, over-do everything and do it professionally so there are no issues when/if something goes wrong.
Use a Blue Sea 15A inline fuse off the battery, before the relay. They're expensive, but high quality.
The horn is used on larger vehicles, so other drivers may overlook you.
The horn draws air in from the bottom, if it sucks up dirt or moisture the horn compressor will die quickly, so mount it appropriately.
The stock horn is very loud, perhaps add a second stock horn if you want more volume.

Thanks for the excellent information. I'll chew on it for a bit, and decide how to proceed.

I didn't have to buy a wiring kit for mine, but then I have and electrical background. Still, you can buy 16 Guage wire at any Walmart. I am not sure if they also sell relays, but amazon does. Both the horn and the relay have instructions, so the biggest issue would be your understanding of how to put it all together.
