I'm toying with the idea of a GoPro HERO5 Black to be used with my 2017 PCX 150. I think I'd like to do a Ram mount to the handle bars. What Ram mount, for those that use them, have you found works the best on the PCX with the GoPro products? A model no. for the mount will help also.

I used a GoPro Hero 3 Silver on my PCX. For me I went with a handlebar mount, using a few bits from my helmet mount to get the right angle, the footage came out really well, even though many people looking at the orientation of the camera would not believe the view it was recording!.

U2, so you shot through the wind screen. Was there any problem with vibration blurring the results?

No, below the windscreen.

My action camera is helmet mounted, that's where I found the perfect POV.

Chin mounted POV.

Rarely you will see Bangkok roads this clear. I was about to test my top end speed when I noticed the cop at 0:19

I finally got my Black Friday goods today I am so relieved and happy! Which includes Sony AS300 ($100 cheaper, no 4K version of their top model X3000) and an assortment of RAM mounts. I bought them mainly for mapping (required feature: 1second time-lapse photos with geotags). Some of the RAM mounts I got are X-grip phone holder, handlebar clamp base, tough claw base, suction cup base (for car, etc), GoPro adapter (can act as base). For my mapping purpose, camera will be mounted on top of my helmet, and phone on handle bar to operate camera. Just got today so haven't used them, but I think I'm going to love them.

So I used my actioncam and mounts today for the 1st time on my PCX.. I list below all that I got with their individual model number, and a few comments. I got some in combo instead of single component to save a few dollars.

Bases
[RAM-B-367U] motorcycle handlebar clamp base - The cleanest look on PCX
[RAP-B-400U] small Tough-Claw base - Most central, versatile, comparatively large, have to take off when parked in public
[RAP-B-224-1U] suction cup base - not planned for PCX, but may still work well

Arms
[RAM-B-201U-A] short arm - nicely compact and light
[RAM-B-201U] medium arm - spring makes it easier to set things up
[RAM-B-230U] double ball adapter - not sure if I will need this yet

Holders
[RAM-HOL-UN7BU] X-Grip
[RAP-B-366U] camera adapter 1/4"-20 thread
[RAP-B-202U-GOP1] GoPro adapter - can hold the camera, convert Gopro mounts to RAM bases, and also make double ball adapter with two of these

Every place I tried my video camera on had too much vibration. The pcx doesn't have as much vibration dampening as the bigger bikes do. When I had my Burgman 400 I had my camera on a RAM mount and it took great video. Then I put the same Ram mount on my pcx and the video was really jittery.
As I understand it from others on this forum and from what other riders have told me, mounting the camera on your helmet or chest is the most stable position for taking video. ...unless the newer Hero has more stability control than previous ones. Is there a way that you can try it in various positions before permanently attaching it somewhere?

You can call me that. ;)

He's on foot but with a radio. There'll be cops every kilometer or so..

on topic:

I won't put my cam on my helmet anymore, it is adding weight and strain my neck, causing some pain sometimes. Not a good idea long term.

I now put it in my handlebars or use a clip and attach it to my backpack's strap.

   Do people stop for police on foot, I see video where most just accelerate, dodge, weave and blast right passed the Thailand patrol cops trying to wave them down. Only tourist are dumb enough to stop and pay. So I assume he has a radar gun or more like 'you speed pay me now'

I won't call you Chin... how bout Mr Chin?

I was actually referring to the body part "chin" where I mounted that camera on my helmet. :D

But call me whatever you like, I really don't mind.

Thai police got no speed gun here, but still no point trying to get flagged down in the next checkpoint if they radio you out.

There some instances where you can maybe speed off and get away, but I'm not taking my chances, a few $ fine won't hurt compared to being arrested for speeding off. LOL

You do in France. If you don't the armed Gendarmes will block the road with their vans on the way out of the town/village. And they'll be pissed off.

"Scars on my back" from that one...

I use a chest strap with mount, I like the riding view it gives.

Please mount it under your seat. Check if the light really goes out when you close the seat.
The civilized world has reached max level of videos of moving pavement and in-helmet personal commentaries, with and without profanity.
Thanks

You should do the same with your precious opinions, but probably won't fit under your seat coz ur full of it

But seriously, are people recording their rides just to post it in YT? There might be other reasons too fish? Probably something you're not aware yet.
