Mostly a cautionary tale...

Nice warm day. Parked at a student's home and opened the seat. Took gloves off, sunglasses, helmet, kneepads out, bookbag out of scoot, then jacket off. Way up a driveway, so nobody will mess with the scoot or my stuff, so I just tossed my jacket over the seat and went on my way.


Came back and found that the zipper had landed on the muffler, and was now a melted blob of nylon. Growl. At least I had wrecked something replaceable ($35, but way better than a new jacket) - on my way home I was thankful that a sleeve or some other non-replaceable bit was not ruined.

Note to self - muffler is really hot.

Me lost too. But indeed, GN2, I usually hang it from the mirror or perhap the grip. Just that one day you do something different...

After having a jacket stolen -- I hung it from the handlebar, just went in the store for a few minutes --- I now lock it under my seat. I thought most bikers were an honest community but there's always a rotten fruit in the basket.

May be anyone passing by thought they would have that.

I almost had the same with the cover- so i wait 15 before covering it :-)

I have found in my area that people will steal anything they think they can get a few dollars for. Not only are there druggies, but also dishonest young people who have not been taught the basic commandments, like Do Not Steal. Heck, my youngest son is 31 now and still thinks it is OK to steal. He was raised by his mother without influence from me.. I wonder where he got the idea the stealing is OK??

Amazes me every time I see a biker drape his leather jacket over his tank, because it's an expensive-as-**** leather jacket! Which, admittedly, was once, I saw it once at the airport, which is under tons of cameras. Seriously, you scooter guys do that??? Not like an adult would steal a scooter jacket, but any kid under the age of seven would probably think it's cool....

LOL, just kidding, you guys are great. What I do find even more amazing is people somehow think $350 sunglasses are worth it. That's as much as a leather jacket. For plastic glasses from China. That cost $7 to make (for the super-high-quality ones.) $1.25 for some of the crap I've seen like Oakley(tm) Frogskins(tm).

...and his mother, who would write a check for anything he stole. He still was arrested for all sorts of things before he reached 18. Now he is 31 and his mother still comes to his rescue.

I had a conversation with a single mom whose son is throwing away valuable opportunities, scholarships, friendships, and going down the wrong path, and told her he did have a lot, but oddly, a person needs to learn to fail just as much as they need to experience success--nothing is good or bad except by comparison.

As some may say, "Burn me once. . .shame on you. . .burn me twice. . .shame on me.".

You don't learn if you don't acknowledge that there is a problem. Consider that, and then think about how many times you have seen a wrong-doer trying to shift the blame for their actions onto someone else, including the victim. That is what my son does.
...and then he wonders why i don't want to spend time with him. His first wife divorced him after he hit her, used her computer to try to break into someone else's bank account, and forged a check. He blamed her for the marriage not working out.

Unless an individual examines his own behavior and tries to improve, his life will not improve.

Not sure if people should learn to fail or perhaps it's better to accept failure and then learn from it.When it comes to kids ....you can take a horse to water,but you can't make them drink it.
