Purchased a Kitaco Digital Speedometer

Post by kramnala58 »

I just purchased this Kitaco speedometer from Webike and am having it delivered to the US so I can pick it up when I am there next month as it is too difficult to have it delivered to Thailand when I used a US based credit card to make the purchase. I will bring it back to Thailand in my luggage and have it installed for probably less than $15 (€11.50 - £9), including them taking off all of the panels. It wasn't cheap, but I think it is a pretty cool accessory.

Wow!!! Looks really good! There are all kind of accesories for these scooters... Now you will have an "integrated" digital clock in the PCX! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Lots of very useful information in that panel... We look forward to seeing it installed! ;)

I think it looks great! If it wasn't such a pain putting it in, I would order one for mine.

Very nice. I spotted that on their web site. Can you make a short video of it when you get it mounted? An install video would be priceless. lol

Anyone have an idea how you could add the milage to its odometer that you have already put on your bike? Way back long ago you could add or subtract milage on a car's odometer by using a drill. I don't think that would work on a bike now though.

I was wondering that. It would put me off getting one if the milage wasn't showing correct.

I see they add a digital temperature sensor for a water read-out. Price not too bad on Amazon - even with international shipping.

I am fairly confident that the mileage cannot be reset to match the mileage on an existing speedometer. I believe that I read somewhere else that the instructions are in Japanese, so they won't help much.

I can make a video once it is installed, but won't be able to get one of it being installed as I won't be doing that, a shop will.

I saw the temperature gauge, but decided that I would have them leave it for the outdoor temp and not the coolant. Just a personal choice, no other reason.

The part of the panel I think I will like most is the tachometer.

All I need now is a larger fuel tank and my 2010 will be a 2015. ;)

Thus far from my experience I would recommend Webike as a vendor. My son reported that it was delivered to his place this past Tuesday which means that from the time I placed the online order to Japan, it arrived at its US destination in 8 days.

I will post pics once I get it installed, but that likely won't be until some time in November.

Done that once or twice when I was younger so my parents wouldn't know that I'd been on a bike. Took ages as I seem to remember. Then I twigged you could just unscrew the speedo drive and ride

It would be hard to imagine a worse design.
Secondary info dominant on biggest display, most useful info display too small and badly located.

I love it - that's awesome! Wish I had a digital speedometer, tach and temp on mine. Even though the tach is arguably useless on a scooter it would still be nice info to have IMO.

It will be interesting to see what the TSA thinks when you board your plane with that thing - almost looks like an improvised bomb with all those wires hanging out of it :D

The original post was from a year ago when we were back for our daughter's wedding, so it is a bit out of date.

There was no problem at the airport, but I am somewhat embarrassed to say that I haven't had it installed yet. One major surgery and a torn Achilles tendon that didn't need surgery, plus another trip back to Canada and the US has filled the last 12 months. I would really like to get it done soon though. Will post pics when I do.

If you refer that the RPMs are displayed on the large display and the speed on the smaller one below - well, some people are looking for such a display specifisly.
But to soothe your sourness - actually if you'd pay attention to the video, it shows that the display can be configured the other way around, so speed will be displayed in large under the sweeping indicator, and RPMs digitally below.

Yes, I did get it installed. It only cost me the equivalent of about $30 US to have a shop take the old one out and put the new one it. I did not purchase the adapter to measure the water temp, but the sensor measured the air temp instead, which was fine with me. I think the mod was worth it.
