Honda large screen

Post by freewillie987 »

Hi,

I'm following thr threads for while over here. First time I want to tell sometime about my ride.

I bought myself a large screen of Honda. It costed me 150 € and it looks great. But I got only one problem with it.

I'm 1.93 m. and all the wind is on my chest and helmet now. More than the stock one. There's a large tunnel under the shield what causes the wind.

Great look , not good for the roadability.

Hello! Welcome to the forum! There have been a few reports of that in the past. The most common complaint that I read was wind noise in the helmet. In the How-To section, maddiedog installed a Givi D322DT which seems big enough to push the wind over most peoples head, but little people have had luck finding this specific windshield. Check the thread out here: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19

As for me, I dont really care for the look of the super large screen that maddiedog installed, but I admire its functionality. I would consider the other windshields that honda and givi offers, but what has held me back with that in the past is the consumer complaints of excess wind noise and velocity on the chest and head. I've never had a bike with a windshield, so I think I'll just keep it stock for now, until I can try one before I buy one.

At 1.93m / 6'4", you'll probably have that problem no matter what.

Unfortunately, my windshield is discontinued, so you probably can't find it. You could send a message to Givi and see if they can track down one for you though. It should cost a lot less than the Honda shield.

I know maddiedog. In Belgium I can still find the GIVI-screen. But just paid 150 € for the Honda-screen. My wife is not gonna be happy about it when I buy another.

I just lost my job due to health problems. And 150€ is a lot for an unemployment. :?

I hope I write my sentences correct.

Yep, your sentences are perfectly understandable.
Not good to lose your job, I hope you can get a new one soon.

Has anyone done any mpg calculations after putting a larger screen on???

Just thinking logically, without my fat a$$ acting as a huge windbreaker  , getting a larger screen should increase my mpg's by quite a bit.

Here are mine at the time of the switch (last column in bold is liters per 100km, lower is better). The 'accessories' entry is where I mounted my Givi 322ST. It seems to have helped (and I'm a big guy as well), but without mounting the OEM screen again I can't say for sure. For reference, the average consumption of my PCX is about 2.8l/100km, or about 84 US MPG.

I have had mine since I bought the bike. I haven't kept mpg figures in the last few months, but I average about 10mpg better than Fiah. I'm a smaller guy though, at 155lbs and 5'10". My figures seem to be significantly better than average, but I am unsure whether I should attribute that to my driving style or to my windshield.

Sweet, looks good. I like the black outline the Ermax has.
