Added a top box

Post by Jacito »

I added a Honda 08L71-K35-J01 rear trunk attachment kit and a MMG 997 top box. I drilled matching holes in the cover that hides the mounting holes, but destroyed the cover in the process. I thought I ordered a replacement cover in white, but I ordered a black one instead. This one I didn't wreck, and it looks great. I had to drill 4 holes in the Honda bracket and 4 in the MMG mounting plate, since nothing matched. I should have taken pictures along the way, but I was too excited. Here are a couple pictures after I finished.

It looks like you could attach lights in that box. Does it have a kit?
I ended up adding my own lights to mine because the Givi kit that I bought with my Givi top box stopped working correctly after a short time. It is easy enough.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

That's right, very nice looking. Those top boxes really stretch out the scoot.

@ Mel, it doesn't have lights, nor are they an option, but like you said it's easy enough to add them later.

A bunch more pictures.

Jim

I have a similar mounting plate and top box on a bike in Thailand (not my PCX). You will find that the metal hook and latch will start to loosen up and the box will rattle.

I tried using some foam rubber to make small donuts around the metal hook. That worked for a while.

I eventually ran a couple bolts from under the mounting plate, put nuts on the top of the plate, then washers and wing nuts inside the box. Much more solid.
