Amerivespa 2012 | Lake Geneva, WI

Post by Tristik »

So this just happened a weekend ago out by me, but thought I'd post it up here anyway.

The local shop was the hub for a Guiness Book of World Records attempt for most scooters in a parade. They managed to break the North America record, but came up shy of the World record. The owner of the shop said that if everyone who had showed up had actually registered, they would have had it.

This is the "offical" produced video:

But I like this next one better. It's basically a 9-ish minute video of a guy standing in the crowd and watching all the bikes go by the entire time:

It was very cool to see so many scoots out. Usually Lake Geneva is a bit of a tourist town. We get a lot of high/mid-high income people that have summer homes here and such because of the lake. Seeing 4-5 scooters for every car was quite a trip. :)

Found the numbers last night and I guess the total, registered count for the scoot parade was 660 bikes. :ugeek: That's a lot of scoots! Although I did see a few of the reverse trikes in there. Not sure what those are classified as really.

The Piaggio MP3s? I've ridden with a couple, they call themselves scooterists.

That second video is very cool. I live only 60 miles south of Lake Geneva. We go there all the time. Had I known this was going on, I would have been there. Used to live in that area (Fontana, Lake Geneva, Williams Bay) when I was just out of high school. Great area to hang out!

I actually live in Pell Lake, but I've lived in Fontana and William's Bay as well. They do a few events a year up here. Next one is Scootoberfest. If you ever bring your scooter up here should check out http://www.scootjockeys.com/

That's the "club" up here. Mostly based out of Midwest Action Cycle just passed Diary Queen in Geneva.

Dont miss this.

"Skootoberfest 4"
Saturday, October 6, 2012

11:00 AM

Midwest Action Cycle

251 Host Dr. Off Wells St., Lake Geneva, WI (map)

.Our annual Oktoberfest ride now in it's 4th year! This year's fest will be on a Saturday in conjunction with Lake Geneva's Oktoberfest and Sprecher's Oktoberfest. Sprecher's festival is right next to their restaurant where they have live music, food, Oktoberfest Bier and even Das Boot!! The day will start at MAC for some NEW Oktoberfest themed scooter games... EX: Scooter Jousting, and Bratwurst Bite. As usual, prizes will be awarded for "Best Dressed Bavarians" so break out the Lederhosen and Dirndls! We then all embark on a beautiful scenic ride to view the area's best fall foliage. Once we get back into Lake Geneva, we are trying to get the whole parking lot in Flat Iron Park located right across the street from Sprecher's Oktoberfest for exclusive Skootoberfest parking. We may also have a host hotel with discounted rates for us so people can celebrate Oktoberfest / Skootoberfest the right way and stay the night. We are trying to make this a huge event and keep the momentum from Amerivespa going so tell your friends to come on out and celebrate fall with the Scoot Jockeys. Skootoberfest always seems to have great turn outs and is almost always the most fun ride of the year . Prost

Oof, that's a bad time for me since I'm a 3rd shifter. I'll make sure to get the bike out though and drive around Geneva a bit. :)
