Well... let's see, how should I begin. I'm a soon to be new owner of a 2015 PCX 150 / Matte Gunmetal Grey (Japanese version). I hear that color is not available in the states. I'm from Charleston, SC but I currently live in Okinawa, Japan. I should be back in the states for a bit later on this year. I'll definitely bring my scooter with me. Perhaps we will have to go for a ride. I'm curious to to see how it handles the Wando River bridge on 526. I'll send pictures as soon as my bike is delivered.

You should check with the US first to make sure that your PCX can be registered and licensed. Just because the same model is sold in the US, it doesn't mean that ones from other countries can be brought in.

When I moved from Canada to the US I had to produce a document from GM regarding my car. I was able to register it without changing anything (such as the exhaust). I believe that it is the same with motorbikes. There are differences with the US version of the PCX compared to the rest of the world such as no Idle/Stop switch and protruding signal lights. The differences may be enough to not allow you to register it without making modifications to conform to US standards. When I move back to the US or Canada I would love to purchase a new bike here in Thailand (probably and Forza) and take it back because the prices here are about 1/2 to 2/3's of the ones there, but I will make sure it can be registered there first.

If tochan is in the Military, Diplomatic, or similar, traffic laws may not affect him, as it would be what in Spain is called "change of residence" and things are much easier like that... ;) ;)

I should hope to kiss a pig! What could possibly stop you from bringing the Grey Lady home? Do you have that engine stop after 3 second feature because we will have none of that in the US... drill baby drill.

Why is the idle stop not allowed in the US? It's supposed to save fuel with instant start when needed. The new model disables that feature should the battery run a bit low. I don't use it, just curiours why it's not legal in the US?

Something tells me that his PCX has the feature... Soon we will know for sure! ;)

I have other question for tochan: Does your bike has the option to turn off the lights, or to use only the leds that surround the headlight? (they are called position lights in Spain)

I have seen pictures of PCX from Thailand or that área which, instead of the "hazard lights" switch, they had an "off-position light-main lights" switch in its place ;)

I do not know for sure, but I think that it's because Honda is afraid of possible litigation, in case that a PCX owner with the engine turned off at a traffic light because of the idling stop system could be hit from behing by a vehicle, and the PCX driver could say "it happened because the engine did not start inmediately when I accelerated to avoid the danger"

It should not be that way, as if I remember correctly, some cars/SUVs, etc in the States have the system, and I have not heard of the manufacturers being sued, but well... let's hope that someone can explain us the reason! ;)

On the 2013's, I believe excessive use of the idle-stop could result in the bike not starting due to the battery getting to low, so with most states not allowing filtering and heavy traffic, that could be bad news.

Honda havve now added measuring circuitry to stop the idle-stop from functioning if the battery is too low and they also put in an uprated battery for good measure.

I think there was also a discussion on this forum concerning smog and emission standards on American imports that other countries don't have, including on motorcycles and scooters. Keep in mind that it was only in 2013 that the California Air quality board finally authorized Suzuki to import their Burgman 200. They have been producing that scooter for many, many years in Europe and the rest of the world.
