How many nations (countries) are represented by riders here?

Post by Cooley_PCX_Rider »

Just wondering if you could start a map of the world showing the locations of riders or a list.
Just for fun.
Perhaps you have done this already.

Isle of Man

Technically a country as we have our own government, but more correctly a Crown Dependancy of the UK.

In essence, I can support England in the major sports tournaments until they inevitably go out and I can then say "Ah well, I'm Manx - glad the English didn't make it through"

:P

^ And you have no speed limits, do you?. At least this is what I heard watching Top Gear when Clarkson and his accomplices head there to test yet another supercar on those roads.

I'm envious :D .

They do have speed limits but only in built up areas.

Welllllll... you're both kind of right!

We do have the usual 30mph in towns, 20mph residential, and a few 40s and 50s. The (best) difference is that the National Speed Limit sign (this one:-

Image

Doesn't mean 70mph like UK. It means (in IoM-speak) "Go as fast as you like fella".

It's especially noticable in TT when we get around 50,000 bikers - generally, you aim for highest gear and stay there as lon as possible!

Not sure that means 70mph in the UK either just that the national speed limit applies which varies by type of vehicle.

Not an expert mind as I just drive to the conditions and don't endanger myself by reading the multitude of road signs we get in the UK

^ this. Apologies for the misinformation! Yes, it's a National Speed Limit sign. There are still limited vehicles over here.

Yep - wouldn't catch me doing that! These are people who rip their leathers on walls as they go past at 150.

Having said that Guy Martin (TT rider and tea drinker extraordinaire) had a horrible crash last year. Flames & pieces of bike everywhere. It was reported that the first thing he said to the paramedics was "Don't cut me leathers - they cost a F*&$)( fortune..."

(Dainese with built in airbag system - they prob saved him).
