Hey there. I'm really enjoying watching your trip. Thanks for the updates. This is helping me plan for my trip through Isaan in April.

We had a good rest this night and are ready to roll. Just finish the great coffee and we are on the road.
If you ever come to Nakhon Phanom I highly recommend the 69 Resort. Beautifully designed rooms, just 500 Baht per night. The owner has been studying in Australia for 8 years...
The glympse will start real soon.

Our last day leading to northeast, from now on the trip will lead back south again. But this day took us to a very special location, which I visited last year already. At that time I took some videos, which I uploaded to youtube, but somehow they got lost. I will have a closer look and update with some links here.
Wat Phu Tok is a place, you have to see to believe it. Boardwalks take you around the rock, and you should better not be afraid of heights, if you take the walk around.
Tomorrow will be a day of rest for the drivers and the bikes. Let me have a look at the pictures I took, I guess there are some more in the pipeline.
Thanks to all of you taking part in the trip, and see you here again. For today, I am shutting down and will go for some beers and great Thai Food at DiDi's Restaurant here in Nong Khai.

Hey, that looks great! It clearly shows, how crazy I must be about my PCX. I love that scooter, and there are still quite a few clicks ahead of both of us until we will be back home in Phuket. I will annouce the next parts here, probably in 2 or 3 days the ride goes on.

Okay, I did. I walked around the rock and my legs shook the whole time! That loose board and ducking under and around the protruding rock.... Whoa! And those rails...They looked useless o_O

Tomorrow we will have breakfast (I get some Thai food, my Red Rat will get a healthy tank full of 91 Gasohol) and then we will hit the road going down south. I have to make it to the birthday party of a friend... The glympse will be available about 9 am (GMT+7) from http://siam.de/pcx, as usual.

Well, today was a day with highs and lows. The biggest fail was MyTracks, which did not record the biggest part of the route. At the first stop (see picture) the software stopped recording. Funnily this was the exact point, when I was notified that Glympse is not working properly, so I restarted that monster. Just to make sure, that everyone can see the way of the day, I enclosed a screenshot of the route as shown by HERE maps. I can recommend this navigation software, it is free, it is by Nokia (I care for the underdogs), and it works (almost) perfectly.
Today was eating kilometers, the Red Rat performed flawlessly, and I arrived at Pak Chong (my second home in Thailand) after a trip of roughly 450 kilometers and three tank-stops about 20 minutes before the afternoon shower set in. What else can you want?
I hope tomorrow will show better results, as I will take a tour around Bangkok to avoid the traffic nightmare. Might be interesting.

Hey, I found a way to play tricks on MyTracks. Whenever I take a longer stop, I stop the recording completely and start a new one. So today's track is in three parts, but at least it worked :D It was a ride of about 450 kms, and it took me from Pak Chong all the way around Bangkok down to Prachuap. The way around Bangkok was a bit tricky, but the old Nokia N8 helped me a lot. The problem is that a motorbike is not allowed to use the main road on the highway, so you have to work out how to keep the right way on frontage roads. But anyway, I arrived well, and as I was told, glympse was working all the way. A friend in Germany watched my complete ride - that was a long night for sure. Have fun with the pictures, I guess tomorrow will be more interesting, because I will be heading south until Chumphon and then west across the mountains to the west coast. This will be one of the more exciting parts of the whole trip. (Sorry, my return key of the EeePC is on strike)

Hi, FritzPinguin
I've followed your travels throughout Thailand with great interest.
I was stationed in Thailand for six months during 1971, flying
fifty B-52 combat missions from Sattahip, Thailand into North Vietnam,
South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

I heard that the base at Sattahip is now occupied by the Royal
Thai Air Force. We often went on R&R trips to Bangkok and
Pattaya, riding in taxis or "baht buses" (a scary experience ! ).
There didn't appear to be any rules of the road. Perhaps that
has changed now ( I doubt it ).

Thanks for sharing
Johnny
