Before and After

Post by kramnala58 »

I'm an expat living in Thailand and bought this used PCX 125 about 6 months ago and have enjoyed adding a few extras to it.

The front is a 120/70-14
The rear is a 140/70-14 There was minimal clearance on the rear inside mud guard but I was able to lift it a bit with a zip tie so that it doesn't rub when I go over a bump.

Welcome! You certainly did a lot 8) How's that nice looking seat feel? Do you now sit back further than on the stock seat? If you don't mind sharing, did you get it from powerbypcx? Also, what's mounted near the fuel door (in front of the saddle?) Sorry for all the questions  haha, no I'm not! Curious yes!

I think I like the seat the best of all the things I have added to the bike. I don't feel like I sit back further, but I sit straighter, thus it feels like I am sitting further back. I was concerned it would be too small at the back for my wife, but she says it feels even better than the original seat. I was also concerned that when I added the large GIVI box (Monolock E470 - 47 liter capacity to hold two full face helmets), it would be tight for her, but she says it's not a problem.

I didn't get it at powerbypcx although I have seen their products. I got it at http://www.noiwatdan.com/ which is in Bangkok where I live. It is kind of a hole in the wall shop, but they do a ton of business. They supply the seat from scratch, so you don't have to lose your ride waiting for your OEM seat to be modified. Mine was a display model, so they discounted it from 1,700 baht to 1,400 baht ($45 / £28 / €34). That's a whole lot less than I have seen advertised elsewhere. If they have to make one, it only takes an hour and a half to two hours while you wait.

I got the box at http://www.thaimotorbox.com/, also here in Bangkok. The owner installs them while you wait and it only takes him about 30-45 mins.

Re: What's mounted near the fuel door in front of the saddle ... It is a holder for the annual tax registration document that needs to be displayed on vehicles in Thailand. It sits nicely out of the way there.

No problem about the questions. I had no idea when I bought the bike that a whole PCX 'world/community' existed out there. I just needed a bike big enough to carry my 6'+ frame but small enough to maneuver in mega city traffic where is is not just okay, but expected that you weave between the stopped cars.

Happy butt makes for a happier ride :) I get your point about sitting straighter makes you feel back further. Whatever works for ya, works! :P A+ your wife is comfie. I'd buy this seat too especially at that price and its nice color pattern. About your registration holder does it lock? I like the idea, and it's convenient but where I live it might be too inviting being seen. Mounted under the seat probably safer and then reggie removed & brought in after the ride. Glad you found the forum :P

The tax registration holder is fairly secure, although if someone really wanted it, they could get it off easy enough. Here in Thailand is must be visible so it shouldn't be kept under the seat. There are separate documents for the balance of the registration, but that piece of paper needs to be displayed. As such, I'm not too worried about keeping it so secure that someone damages the bike if they try to steal it.

A little extra bling for the handle bars (black chrome switch covers) plus a digital clock and a holder for my sunglasses.

I added some plastic panels to the front and rear corners. It was a five pieces kit with the fifth piece being a front fender which I haven't installed yet because the front brake and wheels needs to be removed to do that. I also put a white cover over the variator/clutch housing.

Nice, I like the "wide body" stance 8)
How much does just that headlight cover/"wind shield" cost in Thailand? I would get one for my pcx.

I have had it for a few months, but if I recall correctly it was the equivalent of about $40 US, but may have been $55.

Do you know of any websites where I can get more info on those?

Here are two sites.

For the MadMax site, click on the 'Exterior' tab at the left. I got my front and rear side panels at this shop.

For the X-Speed shop the vast majority of the accessories are listed under the PCX50 tab. I got my variator/clutch cover here. I see that they also have the same windshield panel that I have (although I did not get mine here) and it is $47 US at today's exchange rate.
