How-To: Upload A Photo To hondapcx.org

Post by badaveil »

All users can upload as many pictures as they want, and are encouraged to do so, as long as the pictures are relevant to the topic. Image size is restricted to a maximum of 1080p (1920x1080px). All images above 1024x768 will be "thumbnailed" and displayed as 1024x768. Users wanting to view a larger size can click the image to view it larger.

Some examples of image size:

640x480 displays the full image, and won't make a thumbnail:

1024x768 displays the full image, and won't make a thumbnail. Any size larger will thumbnail:

Here's how you upload and display images:

1. Click Post Reply at the bottom of the thread you're replying to. Below the post window that pops up, you should see a section that says "Filename:" and has a Browse button. Click the Browse button, as shown below.

5. Place the image inline by selecting the file from the Attachments dropdown that has appeared below the post window, and clicking the Place inline button:

7. Finish typing your message, and click the Submit button to post your reply with attachments.

Images uploaded to the site can be a maximum of 1920x1080 pixels, but it is strongly advised to keep them under 1024x768 to ensure users with smaller screens do not have to scroll.

Hope this helps. 8)

Sounds very complicated! From Flickr I just copy and paste the BBcode straight into this forums editor!

Well, conceptually the same. You have Flickr whereas I have Picasa Web Album. You copied and pasted the code so did I straight into the forum editor. Lastly, I am sure you had to put that code in between [img]and[/img] as required by the forum which I did to. So what you did sounds very complicated to me too, it's just a matter of perspective.

Moved this content up to the original post! :)

For clarity, the original post from badaveil showed how to upload an image with Photobucket. Per his permission below, I've moved the content that was in this post to his original post. :)

Unless you request otherwise, I'm going to edit your original post to show the how-to that I just typed above. The how-to you've shown in the original post is not actually uploading a photo to this site -- it is "hotlinking" the photo, which is considered bad web etiquette because it uses all of another site's bandwidth without their permission.

You have taught me something new today and I agree with you the steps you've shown is more rational and more convenient. Yes edit my original post. My humble intention was to share a way to encourage people to show off their photos after all a picture shows a thousand words which I think most forums I've been to do not show how-to.

Either way it was useful that you did the thread as I'm sure that quite a few people didn't realize you could upload in this way and now there is a "how to"

Thought I'd give the instructions a go, It would appear that the pics I have in my folders still need to be resized though as the pixels of my first choice pic was too big?

JGC, that's possible. There is a maximum size, to prevent threads taking FOREVER to load. I usually resize my images to 800x600 before uploading. :)

EDIT: Moved content up to original how-to and moved to how-to section. Also stickied.

GN2 put me onto this app. I love it. You just drag and drop your picture(s) into it and it creates a new folder under the folder you dragged your picture(s) from. You can set it to do any size you want, or multiple sizes at the same time. It will create a different folder for each size so that you don't have trouble sorting them.

I sort of cheat. I have a very old copy of Corel Photo paint that I use. There is a menu for resampling at whatever size you want it to be, in pixels or inches or several other formats. So once I pull up the photo that I want to modify, all I have to do is resample it in the pixel size I want and use the Save As to save it with a different name. Unfortunately, this version won't work in Windows 7 so I have to use my older computer with Windows XP.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

I am hearing that Microsoft is about to stop offering any updates for XP. That's a shame because I have an XP machine that runs a couple of old programs that my Windoze 7 won't run.

Thanks all for the various useful posts.
I recently made a new Facebook account just for making public albums of scooter/bike tasks.
Then I posted a link to it on this site.
I thought we were unable to upload to this site, full stop.
Thanks a lot, the uploading advice is much appreciated.
