I have a question about this process...

I'd like to put DRLs in those locations.

I am in the process of obtaining mirrors with integrated LED turn signals embedded, and I think that DRL would go well in those slots.

I've found a few 1156 LED bulbs on Amazon that aren't "headlight bright" (right at 400 lumens) so they won't project like headlights, but I think it would be a good addition for safety, to get some light up closer to eye level for other drivers.

Can this process be done without removing the lens?

Daytime Running Lights.

It would be a fairly bright LED (about 400 lumens per bulb) that would be constant-on as the engine was running. Not enough to illuminate the roadway, but enough to possibly draw attention from some guy who might not otherwise have seen me coming.

yes there is a set of holes in the lower section of the light for DRL's. But to install them i would still recommend taking the lights apart. Then you can fine tune the sockets to fit correctly. Not to mention it's impossible to get all the plastic shaves out with them sealed. they come apart really easy.

I don't want to put them in the lower section.

I want to put them where the European turn signals are.

The upper section.

The ones with the most separation from each other and from the headlights.

I really don't want to have to try to take the lens off the base, because I know that I'll melt the whole thing. Trust me, I just know it.

I think that if I have a helper holding a shop-vac right up next to the dremel cutting the hole, I'll get the plastic bits as they're cut away.

The initial start i bored the lights out and couldn't get the plastic fragments out. so you need to open them. if you think you'll melt the lights use a heat gun... these lights don't need much heat...

I'm just going to have to have a go at it...

All I'm waiting on is confirmation from superbrightleds that the bulbs I want to use are appropriate for the application.

I'll definitely keep everyone up to speed, but my "how to" won't be nearly as good as yours is.

As long as your doing it, it's all good! Props to you in advance!

Thank you, dem0nk1d. Coming from you that means a lot.

Expect that I'll be bombarding your PM box with desperate messages begging for long-distance technical advice and assistance.

Just follow the write up to the T. Use a thing of cardboard to place the lights on in the oven. You'll do fine. Keep in lights in them for 5 min intervals. Watch them if you need. Just let me know what I can help with. This is what we all should be doing, helping our fellow rider!

Any chance of a tenner then?

Correct, Not Chinese!
 It's whats known as "cool" talk for ten and five. Kids make up their own language and sometimes it stays for life. It's true! Sis and I had our own vocabulary as tots. Drove our mum nuts. Dad thought it was genius! Cooool

Sorry, we've drifted a tad. Someone reel us in please and back towards topic.

Yes, agreed we are here to help one another ;)

No it's not. Rude.

After an Ayrton Senner it's a score.

Just found a 2013 service manual online for $20. Ordered it, and once it arrives, I'll be able to begin working on this and other projects I have in mind.

I have an "Evolution" thread somewhere, and that's where all the updates will be posted.

Thanks, dem0nk1d.
