How-To: Delete Your Fender Like a Pro

Post by dem0nk1d »

That's right no more paying over priced delete kits for your fender. Here's my how-to came up with it in my head on the way home from work.

Tools Need
Vibrating oscillating saw (harbor freight version is killer with half moon metal wood blade)
File for smoothing out the plastic
Ummmm Beer????

Stock factory whale tail

Image

Now lets get started
Image

use the factory line that was created from the mold when they made the fender

Image

Here you can faintly see the factory line
Image

Image

The plastic slag left behind from the saw, no get your file out

Purdy

Done!!! This is the version 1 creation... Just wait it gets more intense!

Now for version 2 not for the noobie! So pay attention and take your time!

First removing the factory plate mount

Now it's time to remove the section of the fendor where the lisense plate light goes. Pull on the wires behind this peice as the light is held in with a rubber socket
Image

Again use the factory mold line to get everything dialed in perfectly

Finally removed the lower section

TAKE YOUR TIME NOW IF YOU FFFFFFFFFFF UP IT IS ON YOU!!! <---DISCLAIMER!!!

NOW SLOWLY Take little pieces out enabling you to open up this area of the fender. You can use the lines where the curves meet each other.

Getting closer to flushing this section out

TADA!!! We have a winner!!! No paying 100+ bucks for a fender delete kit

Hope you guys enjoy this!

The license plate running light wiring is already behind the fender. I’m going to add the little led plate lights. They serve as a bolt and lights to be complaint for the law. So far when I’ve been riding it’s been in day light so it gives me some time this weekend to fix the lighting situation for the Cali cops. =S

I also will need to get the small round red reflectors for the bottom of the plate to be legit as well. I didn’t have enough time yesterday to find them from the move or they would have at least been installed. I all most thought of reusing the side reflectors as a joke. =)

Was joking with my buddies last night about the reflectors… HEhehe Cops would have a field day!

Isn't there already a place for the plate light in the clear space under the tail lamp? Could that work?

Version 1 would be fine now need to add lights since it is there. My version 2 mod gets rid of that light box area. But slims everything a lot. More to come.. when i get home...

I'm talking about the clear portion of the tail lamp housing under the brake lamp.

Sorry sometimes I’m trying to post so fast the words in my head get mixed up. What I wanted to say is Version 1 is simple. Just cut once and your done. You get to keep the factory light, no more mods needed.

Now version 2 you’ll need to add some LED lights so everything is legit at night. I know what you said, it’s just me being retarded on trying to get my words out correctly through the keyboard…

this is what i will install above

I got a good laugh at "whale tail" -- I removed the stock mudflap and put on an Ermax undertray right after buying mine.

How did you mount the plate on that hole?

There is enough surface area for the plate to be screwed into. I will take pictures of the plate off the bike.

Looks good. It is too bad that the US/Canada models have the signal lights on post. I know they are more visible, but imo they detract from the look of the bike.

Your absolutely right! I might head down to Mexico since it's fairly close to me, about 45 min drive and check with the Honda dealer down there. See how much the fender and turn signals are. Do you happen to know if they make a delete fender kit that is compatible with the JDM turn signals? I've seen that they too attach to the stock JDM fender.
