What's to prevent them from picking it up and putting it in a truck or van.

Yep, use one on all three bikes.
(park it overnight in Detroit? No. But works great for shopping, dining ,etc. Afraid of lifters? - probably better trade for an HD or a Wing)

I have one on my PCX. It works great for stops such as going to the grocery store, or off to coffee. If you are worried that someone will roll it off you can get another one for the other side which will lock both the front and back brake. However, if you really feel unsafe then you may as well carry a big heavy chain around with you and use it.

What Fish and Mel said ^^^.

I've had one for years and use it on everything. Works great, very light weight and doesn't take up much room in your baggage. It's also a good helper if you want to hold either of the wheels still while you're working on the bike.

Anyhoo. No lock ever on a bike for over nearly 40 years. Not a single problem...

And that's sayin' something, considering that you live over there in the old country, the centre of scooter theft of the universe...

This is interesting. Much easier to use than a disk lock I think.

My sincere and most humble apologies, YouYou; I was thinking of London. No need to tar the reputation of the whole Kingdom because of the misbehaviour of the odd hooligan in the City.

If it's the odd hooligan then what's the problem? Not sure they steal mopeds.

Our economy for better or worse is very car orientated even if our roads aren't. No one is going to park their AMG Merc GTs to pinch my scooter. Street hooligans are long gone after the attractions of the internet .

Any social issues in Texas?

oOOh yeah, we have lots and lots of social issues -- I wouldn't even know where to begin. Fortunately scooter theft isn't one of them. Must be that the goofs around here are too dumb to ride a scooter and then couldn't give way the parts even if they were smart enough to break one down, which they aren't. That's one of the benefits of our spending as little money on education as possible.

But don't get me started...

Almost 100 bucks??? Good psychologically and feeling of security, and may stop a few kids , but I can defeat that lock in 30 seconds .. A pro may take 15 seconds.

That's a Great find and price Glen! 8) A competitor for sure. Please report back on its' quality and functionality.
Really, what would we all do without Amazon?
(perhaps lose a bit of weight cause we'd have to get off our plump arses to shop?
Uhh, yeah!)

Anywho, how's about a pair of these grip locks? Advantage: I can make and set up a fresh pair anytime should a pair breakdown or get nicked :D

To market or not to market...This is the question.
Will my deterrent reel in the thieves or scare them away? Think about it. See....not so easy to answer ;)

Cut brake leaver sounds simplest. Or do you want to play with the lock?

Exactly, take a small bolt cutter, snip the brake lever and off you go.I was being conservative with 30 seconds..More like 5-10 seconds and off you go.But if you want to keep the kids from screwing with you this is great for that, but for serious theft protection I wouldn't get lured into this false sense of security. But anything is better than nothing I suppose.

Okay I get it - I do ;)

But! Are you guys hauling around a ball and chain?
I'll whip out the grip lock whilst yas mess with that other "it ain't heavy stuff!"

Not leaving WN outside in a hotel parking lot with a grip lock in place.
Hotel stay means: a ground floor unit around the side or back of the building where you roll yer bike inside after the sun goes to bed. No worries.

Grip lock great for quick local stops

Buy whatcha like or buy nuttin'. It's yer worldly stuff.
Gotta go! where's the damn key?
