Forza Top Box

Post by Oldie »

I changed my mind about fitting a top box to the Forza. Generally speaking, I don't like the look of them, they can obscure your brake lights and they can affect handling in windy conditions. But, sitting planning my first tour, I came to the conclusion that life would be that bit easier if I had one. If I use it in conjunction with my Tunnel Bag then I can bring a decent amount of inexpensive whisky back from Europe where all of my touring is done (slightly crazy at it's actually made where I live!).

Anyway, it looks rather sharp in the gray with white reflectors - kinda suits the bike. Cost me £97 / $125 for the Shad SH33 case and the brackets which I thought was quite reasonable.

Thanks for the photo. I am seeing the new Forza 300 has a big difference in footspace where you put the feet up. The new one has less space. But you gain some electrical goodies so it's a wash.

Go big or go home. My 2014 Honda Forza 300 case is 55 liters and too small a lot of times. I want to put my helmet, gloves, riding suit and even boots in it for when I walk around the mall or the beach.

Mind you my riding boots are comfortable on long walks and my baggy riding pants are SEXY.

Is that an older Rebel sitting beside? Meant to ask that before and forgot. Haven't we all ridden one?
I did a double take seeing Todays 300 and 500's 8) Now Them's are Rebel's!

It's actually a CB250 G5 (never sold in the US).

Had it out today, as it happens, and it runs superbly and sounds great too. Very strong up to the high 70's but then starts to run out of puff, although pretty brisk for a 45 year old bike!

Can't be a Rebel, P registration is 1976.
Going by tank colours and exhaust pipe my guess is a CB250G5 with the right side exhaust off.
Rebel name didn't arrive in the UK for another 20 years.

EDIT: haha I was right, didn't scroll down...

Good spot, although it's actually a 1975 registered bike :D

Well, yes, they are the modern version which Dunlop brand as the K82 (or TT100 K82). Really good performance too, even in cold/damp conditions.

Actually, there was a Suzuki Rebel sold in the UK in the early 1970s - it was a two stroke, about 315cc.

The T350 wasn't named or marketed as "Rebel" in the UK, similarly the TS185 I had wasn't called a Sierra either.

When I saw K82 I just had a "flashback". . ..

I used to run Dunlop K81 tires on my '71 Suzuki T250 X6 Hustler. What a nice machine and quick too!

Somebody stole it on me . . .. Live and learn I guess. :(

And when I hear K70 I immediately think of Triumph.

FWIW Suzuki did make a GT380 3 cylinder 2-stroke in the mid '70s that sold in the U.S.. It even had a gear indicator readout on the gauges. I got to ride one a couple of times . . . quick! 8)
