Scooter Skirts

Post by Allobar »

I spend some time in Europe every year and when the weather gets cold or rainy, everyone uses a scooter skirt.
Basically a waterproof lap-blanket that attaches to the front of the scooter, keeps the seat dry when not in use, and protects your legs/work clothes from water/dirt/snow while you drive..
Does anyone know why they aren't used/aren't even sold here in US?
I had to order from UK to get one for my PCX.

It's more the case that people scoot in their work clothes, and the apron provides protection from the cold and from filthy London streets.

I scoot year round and use a large pair of rain pants. They are made to slip on over your existing pants and the cuffs are large enough to easily get over your boots / shoes.

+1 I also have a tucano urbano on the bike when riding temps get below 8degC. Actually I can simply get a jacket above my suit and cummute to and from work in business attire. Theoretically at least.
I feel more comfortable if im well protected (crash protection I mean), and you gotta change shoes also just if you stop and have to put down your legs on a wet dirty pavement.

I use them mainly in the city, but sometimes hit highway speeds.
No issues, the TU skirts have inflatable inserts to prevent flapping.
